2. General information

Thank you very much for placing your trust in the technology of TITAN Umreifungstechnik GmbH & Co. KG!

With the TA75 strap accumulation system, you have purchased an economical and robust product. These operating instructions should make getting to know and the intended use of the TA75 strap accumulation system easier. These operating instructions include important instructions as to how the strap accumulation system should be used in a safe, correct and economical manner. The adherence of the instructions helps to avoid dangers, repairs and downtimes as well as as increase reliability and the service life of the strap accumulation system. The operating instructions must be kept available at the operating location of the TA75 strap accumulation system. It must be read and applied by all persons that work with the TA75 strap accumulation system. These include, in particular, the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance.

Setting and maintenance work must only be carried out by trained specialist personnel!

Intended use

This TA75 strap accumulation system is intended for installation in various strapping machines. The intended use of the TA75 strap accumulation system is the dispensing of strapping strap that is required during one strapping of the machine.

The strap accumulation system may only be operated in closed, dry rooms.

The permissible ambient temperature for use of the strap accumulation system is +5°C to +40°C.

Any use extending beyond this is impermissible. TITAN Umreifungstechnik GmbH & Co. KG shall not accept any liability for dangers and damage resulting from this.

Incorrect use!

The TA75 strap accumulation system satisfies the German and European safety requirements and hence complies with the EC directives.

3. Safety regulations

Before using the strap accumulation system, the operating instructions must be read.

Read through the instructions carefully.

Unauthorised persons are not permitted to use the strap accumulation system.

All safety and warning instructions must be observed in all cases, in particular references to the EC Machinery Directive.

Before operating the strapping machine for the first time, the operating personnel must be clearly instructed in and familiarised with the handling of the strap accumulation system.

The strap accumulation system may only be operated in closed, dry rooms.

The permissible ambient temperature for use of the strap accumulation system is +5°C to +40°C.

The strap accumulation system must be installed on a solid and level subsurface. The strap accumulation system must be anchored before commissioning.

Do not place any containers with fluids on the strap accumulation system.

No persons must be underneath the cart. Attention: Risk of crushing!

Wear protective gloves (cut-resistant gloves) when working. Do not insert any fingers into the area of the pulleys. Attention! The strap may tear! Do not stand in the alignment of the strap! Use only original – TITAN – spare parts! The use of other spare parts other than TITAN – spare parts voids the guarantee performances and liability. We assume no liability at all for changes to the strap accumulation system carried out on-site! Moreover, the warranty performances / guarantee and these operating instructions loose their validity.

4. Life phases of the strap accumulation system

Transport:

The delivery of the strap accumulation system is carried out secured on a pallet. When delivering items greater than 1, the packing sizes may deviate strongly.

Transporting the strap accumulation system is carried out using a forklift.

Attention! Do not stand under the load during lifting and positioning.

Direct bystanders out of the hazard zone. Minimum load-bearing capacity 500 kg.

Assembly:

Only trained specialised personnel may carry out the assembly of the strap accumulation system.

Anchoring / fastening:

The overview drawing (page 12) of the strap accumulation system is binding for the assembly. All necessary dimensions for assembly are apparent therein.

Before the final fixing of the strap accumulation system, this must be aligned in such a manner that the strapping strap runs into the strapping unit or the strap catch box straight.

The strap accumulation system must be installed on a solid and level subsurface.

The responsibility of the floor properties specified is the operating company of the strap accumulation system.

On-site, it must be ensured that the floor properties can withstand the weight of the strap accumulation system.

Connect the supply line from the control console / switch cabinet to the junction box of the strap accumulation system.

Attention! There is a risk of crushing when assembling the strap accumulation system.

Attention! After completely mounting the strap accumulation system, the stability must be checked with regard to anchoring. All fastening screws must be checked for their tight fit and tightened where necessary.

Commissioning:

Only trained specialised personnel may carry out the commissioning of the strap accumulation system.

Cleaning, maintenance:

Maintenance work on the strap accumulation system may only be carried out by trained specialist personnel.

Attention! When cleaning the strap accumulation system with compressed air, wear protective goggles.

No persons must be underneath the cart. Attention: Risk of crushing!

Disposal:

If the packaging material has to be disposed of, this must be put in the respective recycling container or return this to the dual system.

If the strap accumulation system has to be disposed of at the end of its service life, separate the plastics, steel and aluminium and dispose of separately.

6. Operation

6.1. Dispensing feed A new strap roll is put onto the unwinder as follows: Unscrew the circular blank fastening (1) and remove the front circular blank (2). Before pushing the new strap roll (3), observe the dispensing direction of the plastic strap (unwind in the direction of the arrow). Push the strap roll (3) onto the rear circular blank (4).

Put on the front circular blank (2) and screw the circular blank fastening (1) tight.

6.2. Plastic strap threading

Push the slide (2) upwards. Swivel in and hold the lever (1). Rest the slide (2) on lever (1).

Attention: Risk of crushing! No persons must be underneath the cart.

Thread the strap in the direction of the arrow. Remove the strap end from the unwinder unit (3) and place over the first top roller (4) and then around the first bottom roller (5). Keep repeating the procedure until the rolls are covered by the strap.

Hold the end of the strap (7) leading away from the last top roller (6). Push the carriage (2) upwards. The lever drops to its initial position automatically.. Then slowly lower the carriage (2).

This procedure is ended when the roll carriage (2) is at the bottom and the strap accumulation system brake has been actuated. Now the end of the strap (7) can be fed to the strapping machine.

This function must be carried out using gloves as the strapping strap may slip through your hands!

8. Maintenance Permanent operational readiness of the TA75 strap accumulation system is achieved by regular careful maintenance.

Always keep the strap accumulation system in a clean state.

Attention! All parts must be checked at regular intervals, and replaced if they are worn.

Disregarding these instructions may lead to malfunction. Use only original – TITAN – spare parts! The use of other spare parts other than TITAN – spare parts voids the guarantee performances and liability. In order to ensure a high operational readiness, we recommend a regular maintenance by our service department.
