Dear WPOSC Members,
I would like to start off this letter with a big thank you – thank you to all of
the volunteers that make our organization great! I am impressed everyday by the teamwork, efficiency and commitment of our volunteers. Our events, activi-
ties, special interest groups and the Thrift Shop would not be possible without
our amazing members that donate their time to the OSC.
March’s Make it, Bake it, Fake it event was quite a success. The proceeds of
that event will be split between our social (Programs) and philanthropic (Welfare)
accounts. Thank you to all those that donated items to the auction and to those that paid to take the wonderful items home. I loved watching the competition
and camaraderie shared by friends both old and new. April’s event is everyone’s
favorite – BLINGO! This event will be taking place on Tuesday, April 10th at 6pm
in the Wright-Patt Club. BLINGO is a fun evening of dinner, socializing and
BINGO. Every WPOSC member in attendance is guaranteed to win a prize! We hope to see you all there!
Once again, the WPOSC is creating a basket of items to be auctioned at the Fisher House’s charitable
event at the end of April. This year’s event is “An All-American Evening…Comedy Night at the Museum.”
The theme of our auction item is “In the Garden.” We have purchased a gardening wagon and we hope to
have it filled with fun items for the garden. We will be accepting cash donations as well as donations of
items to fill the wagon. If you would like to donate, please bring items to BLINGO on April 10th. Please see our sign up genius for ideas and more information: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090848abaf2babff2
-fisher6
Elections for the 2018-2019 Executive Board will be taking place during BLINGO on the 10th. Please see
page 4 for more information on the nominees for 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Administrative Treas-
urer and Secretary. Yes, you read correctly – we currently do not have nominees for the positions of Presi-dent or Welfare Treasurer. If you are interested in either of these positions, please contact our 1st VP, Sally
Lee. While the deadline has passed, she is continuing to accept nominations.
April will be another busy month for our club. We have wonderful opportunities available for our mem-
bers every week. As spring approaches, we hope that you enjoy all the WPOSC has to offer. Try a new activ-
ity, visit the Thrift Shop, and make a new friend!
Best wishes,
Jen Bray
WPOSC President 2017-2018
Thank you to Mah Jongg, the Thrift Shop & all
Volunteers!

We are a very unique volun-
teer group to be found nowhere
else in the Air Force. Hours are
flexible and vary according to
your schedule. On average, we
work 2 ½ hours in the morning
during the school year. During
this time, you are walking and
talking and even exercising
without realizing it.
Had another great time at our tour.
Hope to see you next year! L to R: Sara Lowe, Martha Parker, Rose Miklasevich, Sandra Moore, Cynthia Brubaker, and Sue Craven
Training is painless and
fun! You can train with a group
or on an individual basis. Ei-
ther way, you soon become a
part of a great group of guides.
You do not need to know the en-
tire area of the museum, but can
focus on areas you feel comfort-
able making part of the tour you
develop for school groups from
3rd to 12th grade. No sweat, easy!
The best part? The friend-
ships we form while doing
something we love. We meet
on the fourth Thursday morning
of every month during the
school year for education and
training. Come join us!

2018-2019 Executive Board Candidates
Leslie Impastato
Candidate for 1st Vice President My family PCS’d to Wright Patterson AFB in July 2016. Our previous assignments include Pope AAF/Ft. Bragg, NC, Aviano AFB, Italy, and Lackland AFB, TX. We have two daugh-ters and a son, ages 19, 16, and 8 who keep us busy. We live in Oakwood and love the community. My professional back-ground is in medical so-cial work – I have a Mas-ter’s in Social Work. I have not worked in my field in several years and have focused instead on volunteer activities with my children’s schools and other activities. While liv-ing in Pinehurst, NC 2012 -2016, I was very involved in our church. I served on our Parish Council and started a nursery ministry to support the many military families who attended our church. I spent two years working in the nurs-ery and loved teaching and caring for toddlers and preschoolers. It was a wonderful experi-ence – but I’m enjoying the new opportunities to be involved at Wright Patterson. I served as Welfare Chair this year and enjoyed working with the other spouses on the committee and Board of Governors. There are so many won-derful and talented spouses here. I am excited to continue serving the Wright Patterson Offi-cers’ Spouses’ Club in 2018 -19.
Cathy Randolph
Candidate for 2nd Vice President Cathy has been a military spouse since 2000. She has a BS in Zoology and Physiology from the University of Wyoming. She has 2 daughters, and is active in their PTOs, volunteer-ing to work book fairs, helping to organize ac-
tivities, and fundraising. She works as a Substitute librar-ian in the Beavercreek City school district. Her hobbies include reading, baking, playing Mah Jongg, and making jewelry.
Valerie Slover
Candidate for Admin Treasurer I am proud to be an Army wife and fortunate to have access to this OSC. This is only the sec-ond OSC that I have come across in my years as a military wife. I am currently part of the Mu-seum Guides and the Wright Wringers. I also love to attend the Coffee group, Bunco, evening Movie group and the International Cooking group when my schedule allows.
Kris Mangold
Candidate for Secretary My name is Kris Man-gold, and this will be my second year as the WPOSC Secretary. I have been the secretary of other organiza-tions, but this is my first position as an OSC offi-cer. My husband, Chuck, and I moved to the Wright-Patterson AFB community two years ago, when my husband retired from the AF. He works on base for Big Safari as a Test Pilot. We have traveled around the world in the C-130 and J-130 community, living in Eng-land (Mildenhall AFB), Florida-2 times (Eglin AFB and Hurlburt AFB), and New Mexico (Kirtland AFB). We have two daughters, Grace (14) and Emily (12), and we live in Springboro, Ohio. I'm looking forward to working with all of you as the OSC Secretary!

Sallie Gibson of Centerville will be our speaker this month. Sallie is a member of the Polk Box Button Club and will talk to us about button col-lecting. The local group of collectors have been meeting monthly at the Polk Grove Church in Vandalia for forty five years. There are local, state and national competitions for collec-tors. Sallie has been chairman of judging at the state level for eleven years and the national level for five years. Manufacturing methods changed drastically after World War I, so buttons made after the war are considered “new.” . Before this hobby began Sallie was in the Air Force as an occupational therapist. Please come to hear Mrs. Gibson, see her extensive collection and view slides of very old buttons. If you have buttons to share, bring them and learn if they are collectable or how much they are worth.

In April, we will be reading The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens. It is
about a college student named Joe
Talbert who has the modest goal of
completing a writing assignment
for an English class. His task is to
interview a stranger and write a
brief biography of the person. With deadlines looming, Joe heads to a
nearby nursing home to find a will-

life is ever the same.
