WelcomeLocated in Haute-Mauricie, Oscar Lake Outfitters has an exclusive territory for hunting and fishing of 234 km² (145 mi²) ! Our site has about thirty lakes and more than 5 km of trails for trout fishing. In addition, the territory of our outfitters is along the beautiful reservoir Blanc, navigable on a distance of 80 km. After more than 40 years, our renown is based on our genuine passion for nature, the quality of our equipment and the comfort of our four stars rated cottages. We hope to see you soon !

The outfittersDuring the 60s, Marc Farrar frequently brings his family camping in his "little natural paradise" where the Saint-Maurice and Flamand Rivers meet, where you can hunt and fish. The expedition is all the more exciting because the site is only accessible by train!The exceptional attachment of the father to this spot will gradually make him buy two cottages while his project of sharing this extraordinary region with other nature lovers like him is slowly taking shape.

The Farrar business modestly but passionately starts its activities in 1974. Unfortunately, Mr Farrar dies in 1976. Guided by the same passion, the family decides to persue their father's dream. Over the years, several cottages and a beautiful inn were in operation.

In 1987, a road (25 west) is built about 30 km (20 mi) south of the outfitter, at Flamand Lake. The Farrar family buys the small Pourvoirie du Lac Oscar that was at that time only accessible by floatplane, and extends it. A investment project that consists of constructing 15 cottages in white pine and a check station.

And we have a lot of projects! After more than 40 years in business, we still love what we do. With our website, we hope to continue to give you information, but mostly, to share with you the passion within us. The history continues little by little...

Note : For security reasons, it is forbidden to make outdoor fires on our territory (varies according to the fire danger index).

List of the equipment to bringHere is the list of equipment we suggest you bring on your next visit to our outfitters. If you have allergies, we strongly advise you to always have your medication on you.

On board, it’s safety first!The following precautions are recommended by the Canadian Coast Guard :

• Buckle up your personal floating device (PFD).• Alcohol is not allowed on the boat.• Drive sober.• Have all the necessary equipment. The first aid kit is obligatory.• Each passenger must possess a driver’s license for motorized boats.• A form can be filled at the lodge for those who do not have their license.

• Speckled trout : 10• Lake trout : 2 (Lac Oscar : 1)• Walleye : 6• Northern pike : 6

*A family (2 adults and 2 childrens) has a right to a maximum of 2 quotas.

Classic lures“Classic lures” means that their effectiveness has been proven. However, they do not guarantee that you will catch a fish... A part of the success of fishing resides in the fisherman’s talent! Note that most of these lures can be purchased at our place.

Walleye(Our method: Split-Shot sinkers PSS-5 - No 6 hook - 6 to 8 pound test line) - Blue, orange, black, perch Rapala - Shad-Rap - Hot & Tot - Spinner Pack - Yellow or black Jigs with white head.

Northern pike3 in. Daredevil, it could also bite to most of the lures - 8 to 12 pound test line.

Lake troutBrass & silver Toronto Wabbler 3 & 3 ½ in. - Blue sinking jointed Rapala - 18 in. beads - 6 to 10 pound test line.

Speckled or brook troutRed & gold, green & gold No 2 or 3 Veltic - 3 in. brass & silver Toronto Wabbler - Lake Clear - Williams - 4 to 6 pound test line.

ElectricityThere is no electricity on our territory : the stove, the refrigerator and the water heater runs on propane gas. The interior lights and the water pump are powered by solar panels.

Important note because many devices operate on propane gas, it is very important to leave a window open at all times. Also, make sure the valves are closed when you leave the cottage.

Please be advised that a gas refrigerator as a very fragile thermostat. To keep your food as fresh as possible, we suggest that you separate your food and your beverages. You can bring a cooler with ice or ice packs to keep your drinks cold, especially if you plan to party during your stay !

Water qualityThe water in our cottages is not drinkable ! However, it can be used for washing dishes and showers.

GarbageThe environment is very important to us. We insist that our clients bring their garbage back to the check station. We are responsible for the cleanliness of the territory and we need your cooperation.

Route from the town of La Tuque1. On the 155 north, take the first exit to La Tuque.2. Then follow governmental signs (blue) of the Oscar Outiffters.3. Then take the road 25 west.

We are located at the 50th kilometer, just after the bridge. We are accessible by car. Please note that the last 48 kilometers are gravelled.
