Tags are key words or terms used to describe information, images, videos, posts etc.
They are used to categorize information to help users understand what the information is about.
Tags ensure information can be easily found again when browsing or searching.
What are Tags and why do people use them?

Tags are very useful for research because they help me find information on a topic.
Tags are useful when I bookmark information because it helps me organise my research.
Tags are useful to locate information at a later date.
How will tagging be useful to my learning?

Keep it simple: use 3 – 4 tags only per piece of information
Keep it the same: be consistent and avoid using similar names for the same thing eg “black death” and “black plague”
Always use lower case letters

Think of a book you have read.
Find a review of this book. Save the review to Diigo and give it some tags.
Enter a book you have read into Goodreads and add it to some shelves.
Let’s practice tagging
