MOKAU RIVER TOURS
SAILING SEPTEMBER 2014
Just a run down on things that may be of interest for you in the Mokau area. An incident occurred recently where a person has parked their car in the middle of the Awakino Gorge and walked away from it leaving the car running. A pas-ser by found this person further along in the Gorge; they have picked them up and dropped them at the Junction Service Station. This person was found to be seriously ill and was taken to New Plymouth under the Mental Health Act. I do not recommend picking up hitch hikers; especially in remote areas, it's for your own safety, if you are concerned for someone, call 111. On the 24th of August 2014 there was a change in law; the Summary Offences (Possession of High-power Laser Pointers) Amendment Act 2014 came into force. It is now and offence to carry any high-power laser pointer in a public place without a reasonable excuse. If in doubt, just ask I have placed a number of Neighborhood Support signs around the place, basi-cally the message is to visitors that we are looking out for one another. If you are suspicious about anything, call police, it is better to be safe than sorry or at the least make a note, vehicle registration/person description, it may turn out to be vital information. On that note, contacting police, if it is urgent, ring 111, if you wish to report an historic incident or crime, ring 06 750 5000 and it is option 5, the report made over the phone will be sent to me straight away. If you wish to get a hold of me personally, for the police station ring 06 750 5000, dial option 1, and dial exten-sion 62400 or for my cell phone, ring 06 216 7299 and if I don't answer, leave a message with your full name and contact number.
