A pride of palaces

In an exhilarating blend of heritage and hospitality,

Taj Hotels offers guests the experience of a

lifetime — to live like royalty.

Some of India's most renowned palaces welcome guests to

stay in royal and monumental splendour while experiencing

the flavours of Taj hospitality. These heritage monuments

have been restored, renovated and rebuilt by

Taj Hotels and now provide new generations the opportunity

to enjoy and experience a unique slice of history.

The oldest gem in the Taj chain of hotels is the Taj Mahal

Palace, built more than a century ago as a symbol of

national pride. Damaged in the Mumbai terrorist attack in

November 2008, the hotel has been painstakingly

restored and refurbished to offer guests a memorable

heritage experience.

Guests at the Taj Falaknuma Palace,

the newest jewel in the Taj crown, can

experience the ambience of the

Nizam's palace that once welcomed

European royalty and heads of state;

walk amidst the many gardens

personally conceived by the Nizam;

and enjoy the personal art collection

of the Nizam's family.

The 347-room Umaid Bhavan Palace, built between 1928 and 1943

as the residence of the Maharaja of Jodhpur, is a mix of eastern and

western architectural influences. Its majestic 105-foot high cupola is

influenced by the Renaissance, while the towers draw inspiration

from Rajput tradition, and the lavish interiors with gilt furniture and

elegant artwork follow the Art Deco style.

The marble palace that seems to float in the

middle of the lake is the Taj Lake Palace that

dates back to the 1930s. Guests can

experience drives in vintage cars and sail

on the lake in a 150-year-old ceremonial barge,

complete with resplendently dressed oarsmen.

Rich textures, opulent furnishings and exquisite

objets d’art are all a part of the Rambagh

Palace, an architectural masterpiece

surrounded by expansive, ornamental gardens

arranged in brilliant symmetry. Guests can

experience the legendary Peacock suite, which

overlooks the Mughal Terrace; dine in the

gilded palace ballroom; and even play polo,

the sport of kings.
