DUSHANBE, 17.12.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. TheMinistry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic ofTajikistan informs that a new electronic system ofvisa processing and issuance for foreign nationalsand stateless persons will be introduced indiplomatic missions and consular offices of theRepublic of Tajikistan and the Main ConsularDepartment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ofthe Republic of Tajikistan on 1 January 2017, MFAInformation Department reports.
“The new system’s objective is to simplify the Tajik visa processing procedures and it is another step in introduction of electronic publicservices”, – says ministry’s message.
According to the source, now foreign nationals and stateless persons need to submit the necessary documents to obtain a Tajik visa inthe diplomatic missions and consulates of the Republic of Tajikistan and to extend their visas in the Main Consular Department of theMinistry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan at www.visa.gov.tj. Depending on the results of preassessment, consular officersmay invite applicants via email for necessary processing procedures.
It should be outlined that a Tajik visa to be issued in the country’s airports upon arrival will also be processed via the website ofwww.visa.gov.tj. As a result of preassessment, the system sends visa confirmation to applicants, which needs to be presented beforedeparture and in consular offices in airports as a supporting document to obtain a Tajik visa.
“With a view to preventing misunderstanding, we would like to inform that the new electronic system for Tajik visa processing is notassociated with the Tajik eVisa System. The Tajik eVisa is processed at www.evisa.tj. It is a single entry visa issued for the period of90 days, but its holder can stay in Tajikistan not more than 45 days starting from the arrival date. eVisa is not subject to extensionexcept forcemajeure situations” notes the ministry.
