• Lahn Khafee = Minor mistakes

• Lahn Jalee means to make a BIG mistake in the Quraan

• Lahn Khafee means to make a small

mistake in The Holy Quran

What is LAHN JALEE?• Incorrect Makhraj or Sifat (Not to pronounce

letters from the correct place of articulation and their respective qualities)

• Addition (To add on letters to words)

• Omissions (To take off letters from words)

• To replacereplace Harakah with Sukoon and vice versa (To replace a Zabar, Zer or Pesh with a Saakin and vice versa)

• Change the Harakah (To change the Zabar, Zer or Pesh)

It is HARAMHARAM to make any of these MAJORMAJOR mistakes.

What is LAHN KHAFEE?• Full Mouth / Empty Mouth (To overlook

the rules of Tafkheem and Tarqeeq only when reciting The Name of Allah, The Letter Raa’)

• Ghunnah (Not to adhere to the the rules of Izhaar, Idghaam, Iqlaab, Ikhfaa etc in their respective places)

• Madd (Prolongation) (Not to prolong / stretch a letter when a MADD is present)

It is MAKROOHMAKROOH to make any of these MINORMINOR mistakes.
