TakeawaysfromDay2Baidu’sWaveofAutonomousDrivingBaidu,theleadingsearchengineinChina,hasbeenabletopersonalizesearchresultstodifferentuserbehaviors,benefitingfromadvancesintechnologysuchasmachinelearningandfastercomputing.However,asthecompanyhasventuredintotheautonomousdrivingindustry,itisfacingevenmorecomplexchallengesthanthoseinitssearchbusiness.Onesuchchallengeisreal-timeimageprocessing,whichrequiresmoresophisticated,deeplearningprocesses,inadditiontoevenfastercomputationspeeds.
BaidulaunchedaprogramcalledRoadHackers,anopenplatformwhichusesdatafromconsumer-gradecamerasinvehiclestotrainBaidu’sdeeplearningalgorithmsandcreateaself-drivingsolutionatalowercost.
