Thisyear'sTakeoverisaselectionboxoftheatre,music,danceandcomedy,givingyoutheopportunitytoseeestablishedcompanies,newtalentandtotrysomethingnew.
TrestleTheatrebringtheirfamousmaskandphysicalstyletothefestivalwiththepoliticalthrillerBurnmyHeart,whilstImitatingtheDogwillbeblurringthelinesbetweentheatreandfilmintheirmodernageghoststoryHotelMethuselah.
ThishalftermwealsohavestufftokeepyoungeraudiencesentertainedwithTortoiseinaNutShell’sTheLastMinerandMudPieArtsbringingaHalloweenthemedadventuretothetheatre.
Thisyear'sTakeoverisaboutfarmorethanwhatisonstageinourStudioandMainHouse,withourfrontofhousespacebecomingakeypartofthefestivalexperienceandseveralshowstakingplaceoutsideofthetheatrebuildingitself,includingElsewhere,thecollaborationbetweenEdinburghFringefavouriteBeltUpandthetheatre’sYoungActorsCompany.OntopofthatTakeoverwillbegivingyouopportunitiestogetinvolvedinthefestivalthroughouttheweekwithadiverseselectionofworkshops,eventssuchasTakeovertheCity(adayofpervasivegamingandotherthingsacrossYork)andevenperformanceopportunitieswithHatchandourOpenMicNighthostedbyBirminghamwordsmithPolarbear,whowillalsobebringinghisnewshowReturntothefestival.
