Interested runners can visit the website www.mahamarathon. com LOKMAT NEWS NETWORK AHMEDNAGAR, DEC 6 After almost ten months of the incident, the government has sus- pended four senior officers, including the then civil surgeon of the district civil hospital, after the committee found them prima facie guilty in the Pangarmal hooch tragedy that had claimed the lives of nine persons. Civil surgeon Dr Pandurang Borute has confirmed of receiv- ing the suspension orders on late Tuesday evening. The four officers facing suspen- sion are former civil surgeon Dr S M Sonawane, the then ENT sur- geon Dr P S Kambale, former administrative officer Dr Sanjay Rathod and current admin officer Dr Ramesh Mane. The committee inquiring into the Pangarmal hooch tragedy found the civil surgeon guilty of dereliction of duty. ENT Dr Kambale was acting civil surgeon before Dr Sonawane. He and the then admin officer Dr Rathod were also held guilty of derelic- tion of duty. The action against Dr Mane has come for no improvement in the services of the hospital. Hooch tragedy It may be recalled that during February 2017 elections to the gram panchayat and panchayat samitis, liquor was served by Shiv Sena candidates in Pangarmal village. Over 22 per- sons had got severely ill after con- sumption of the liquor. The liquor had taken the lives of nine persons while three were rendered permanently blind. Investigations had led the police to Civil Hospital canteen, where liquor was manufactured and bot- tled. Over a dozen people were arrested in due course of the investigations. The case is still sub judice. The then Sena candidate for the ZP is still missing. Ironically, no action was taken against the civil hospital staff and the offi- cers in Khaki who were alleged to have been working with the liquor racket. The Topkhana police is located just 50 meters away from the can- teen where the killer liquor was bottled. LOKMAT NEWS NETWORK JALNA, DEC 6 Fourteen students of zilla parishad school in Bathanbu village in Jalna tehsil were admitted to the District Government Hospital, Jalna after con- suming castor seeds on Wednesday. According to sources, the students in the age group of 8-10 years mis- took castor seeds for peanuts and almonds and ate them. Soon after eating they com- plained of dizziness and started vomiting. Twelve boys and 2 girls ate castor seeds from the nearby trees.The teachers of the school found that the chil- dren had eaten castor seeds. On getting the news, par- ents rushed to the school and with help of teachers, they admitted the children to the hospital. Later minister of state for dairy development and textile Arjun Khotkar vis- ited the hospital and inquired the condition of the children. The civil surgeon, Dr. M.K Rathod and a team of doctors team were treating the children. The condi- tion of the children is sta- ble. The minister directed the doctors to provide immediate medical assistance. 14 taken ill after eating castor seeds Nanded, Dec 6: Out of 32 sugar factories in the Nanded zone, the crushing session has started in 28 mills and 21.25 lakh tonnes of sugarcane has been crushed since May. The Nanded zone consists of five districts including Nanded, Latur, Hingoli, Parbhani and Osmanabad. Out of the five sugar factories in Nanded dis- trict, 3 have started its crushing session with Bhaurao Chavan Cooperative Sugar Factory crushing highest quantity of sugarcane i.e.1.1 lakh metric tonnes. In its unit number 4 crushing of 86760 metric tonne of sugarcane has been completed while Jai Ambika Sugar Factory at Kuntur has crushed 24220 metric tonnes. The Western Maharashtra used to pay Rs 3,000 per metric tonne for sugarcane procurement but its price yet has not been decided in the district. The factory administration say that it will be set as per the recovery. Bhaurao Chavan Cooperative sugar factory has paid Rs 2,238 in advance to every sugarcane grower. In Hingoli district all the four sugar factories have started crushing seasons. In Parbhani dis- trict, out of 5, four have ignited their boilers. In Osmanabad district two cooperative and 8 pri- vate sugar factories have started crushing and in Latur district out of 8 factories, 7 have started cushing . Sugarcane producers are facing hardship due to dearth of labourers for cane harvesting, how- ever, some of them are managing it by using machines. The global warming has drastically affected produc- tion and quality of wheat allover the world, increas- ing concern among the sci- entists. Scientists are con- ducting research to breed new varieties of wheat which could sustain the Global Warming effect. This will help provide food to the increasing popula- tion. This is the first of its proj- ect being held by the SRTMU with incurring an expenditure of Rs 52 crore. The USA has shared Rs 31 crore and the remaining Rs 21 crore will be shared by the University Grants Commission. A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by the SRTMU with the Washington State University in the US, Kansas State University, Punjab Agricultural University (Ludhiana), GB Pant University (Pantnagar), Dr. Rajendra Krishi Vidyapeeth (Samastipur), Chaudhary Charan Singh University (Meerut), Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University (Jabalpur) and Methahexis Pvt. and J.K. Intl workshop on wheat to combat global warming SRTMU, US varsity to organise 2-day prog Ahmednagar, Dec 6: The Bombay High Court has stayed the auction of the property of Kinetic Engineering Ltd (KEL), which owes over Rs 3.3 crore as tax to the Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation (AMC). After failure to have any bid- ders for the auction of the fac- tory by the AMC, the high court has also stayed the process of transfer of rights of the property to the AMC. KEL owes over Rs 3.3 crore to the AMC as tax. Before Diwali, the AMC had seized the property. The company, once famous for manufactur- ing Kinetic mopeds, had approached the district court against the AMC action. However, the court had upheld the action of the AMC. Accordingly, the AMC had floated tenders for the sale of company property. However, no bids were received till the last day (December 5), of the proposed auction. The AMC then initiated action to trans- fer the rights of the property in its own name. However, in the meantime, the company had approached the high court filing a plea against the corporation action. The plea was heard on Tuesday and the HC ordered stay on the recov- ery of outstanding tax and the company sought one month time to submit its say. According to sources,the students in the agegroup of 8-10 years mis-took castor seeds forpeanuts and almonds andate them. Soonafter eating they com-plained of dizziness andstarted vomiting. Twelveboys and 2 girls ate castorseeds from the nearbytrees.The teachers of theschool found that the chil-dren had eaten castorseeds.

On getting the news, par-ents rushed to the schooland with help of teachers,they admitted the childrento the hospital.

A memorandum ofUnderstanding (MoU) hasbeen signed by the SRTMUwith the Washington StateUniversity in the US,Kansas State University,Punjab AgriculturalUniversity (Ludhiana), GBPant University(Pantnagar), Dr. RajendraKrishi Vidyapeeth(Samastipur), ChaudharyCharan Singh University(Meerut), JawaharlalNehru AgriculturalUniversity (Jabalpur) andMethahexis Pvt. and J.K.Hebride Pvt six monthsago. According to the agree-ment, these universitiesand companies will cometogether for research to pre-pare wheat varities whichcan withstand the increas-ing temperature.

AAhhmmeeddnnaaggaarr,, DDeecc 66:: TheBombay High Court hasstayed the auction of theproperty of KineticEngineering Ltd (KEL), whichowes over Rs 3.3 crore as taxto the AhmednagarMunicipal Corporation(AMC).

After failure to have any bid-ders for the auction of the fac-tory by the AMC, the highcourt has also stayed theprocess of transfer of rightsof the property to the AMC.KEL owes over Rs 3.3 crore tothe AMC as tax. BeforeDiwali, the AMC had seizedthe property. The company,once famous for manufactur-ing Kinetic mopeds, hadapproached the district courtagainst the AMC action.However, the court hadupheld the action of the AMC.Accordingly, the AMC hadfloated tenders for the sale ofcompany property. However,no bids were received till thelast day (December 5), of theproposed auction. The AMCthen initiated action to trans-fer the rights of the propertyin its own name. However, inthe meantime, the companyhad approached the highcourt filing a plea against thecorporation action. The pleawas heard on Tuesday and theHC ordered stay on the recov-ery of outstanding tax and thecompany sought one monthtime to submit its say. Thecourt ordered to submit thesay by December 19 andstayed the auction. The court,however, upheld the sealing ofthe company till disposal ofthe plea.
