DEFINITION

CELL PHONE – A mobile telephone using a system of radio transmitters.

TIMELINE 1973-the first cell made by Dr. Martin Cooper, the beginning of

the 1G network. 1978 -Bell launches first trial commercial cellular network in

Chicago. 1982- Nokia introduces their first cell phone. 1983- Motorola DynaTAC 8000X is the first commercial cell phone

available in the U.S. 1990 -FCC approves the digital AMPS, the beginning of the end

for analog networks. 1991- First commercial GSM call in the world. 1993- TXT messaging appears for 1st time LOL

Its has been more than 35 years since Martin Cooper placed the first call on a mobile phone. In 1977 the first cell phone was made in Chicago.
