Le management s'appuie sur des capacités professionnelles

évidentes et mesurables telles que la planification,

l’organisation, le contrôle, l'utilisation des systèmes

d'organisation et des méthodes de communication.

L’essence même du leadership repose davantage sur des

choses moins tangibles, plus controversée et moins

facilement mesurables comme par exemple : la vision, la

confiance, l'inspiration, la prise de décision, le style,

l’intégrité, l’honnêteté, la loyauté, l’humilité, le courage, …

Le leadership repose sur deux champs de qualités

fondamentales. Le champ du comportement, du

caractère et des « réserves émotionnelles » d’une part, et

celui des idées, de l’imagination et de la force de

conviction d’autre part.
