A human interface device
Converts mechanism of hand sign language
into alphanumerical characters
Assists user to communicate with others
through ASCII text
Without communication growth of a person is
hampered.
Being a part of the society dumb should not
be deprived of their right.

• an electronic device that translates sign
language into speech in order to make
the communication take place between
the dumb and normal people.
A product in concurrence with assistive
engineering

Patented technology by Spectra Symbol
Attached to gloves by needle and thread
When the substrate is bent, the sensor
produces a resistance output correlated to
the bend radius
the smaller the radius, the higher the
resistance value
usually in the form of a thin strip from 1”-
5” long that vary in resistance
unidirectional and bi-directional.

One side of the
polymer is printed
with a polymer link
having conductive
particles
sensor is straight : particles give the ink a
resistance say 30 kΩ
Bending of sensor : conductive particles move
further apart increasing resistance up to 50 kΩ
Sensor straightens out again : resistance
returns to the original value

Flat resistance:
25.6 kΩ
Bend resistance:
26-32 kΩ
Temperature
range: -32 to 80C
Part length: 5.8
cm
Active length: 4.8
cm

Even if there is
small change in
angle the
resistance
changes and thus
the voltage
Cost ineffective
