Talks on Knights Templar Masonry

Em. Kt David Casdagli, Past Provincial Registrar, has undertaken considerable research and compiled a

number of interesting talks which can be used at meetings where time permits. A brief synopsis of these talks

are listed below :

1.  The Demise of the Knight Templar organisation across Europe, EXCLUDING France, in the early

14th Century

o  The story of what happened in France is very well known and documented but this talk looks

at what happened elsewhere in Europe, including England. About 20-25 minute

2.  The Appearance of the Masonic Order of Knights Templar in Britain and Ireland in the mid 18th

Century

o  Written following special and unfettered access to the archives at Mark Masons Hall and

elsewhere. It traces the origins of Anglo-American Masonic KT Order from its origins in

France in the early/mid 18th Century up until close to the end of the 19th. Century.

About 20-25 minutes.

3.  The origins of the modern Malta ceremony

o  When the Malta ceremony first appeared is unclear but the unified version, which is close to

that that we use today, was first formally promulgated in 1866.

About 10 minutes and can be used to “fill the time” whilst the Mediterranean Pass is being

conferred.

4.  Some interesting happenings in North Western Knight Templary between 1780 and 1812

A short 5-10 talk looking at some of the early happenings in our area.

5.

Two Knights on a Horse-A Knight Templar Seal

o  A 5-10 minute talk originally written by Em Kt Casdagli but later expanded by Em Kt Derek

Brook. It looks at some of the possible origins and misconceptions about this seal, which

first appeared on “modern” official documentation on the back page of the Statutes for

1863

6.  The short History of the Knight Templar Aprons.

A short, 3-4 minute note on the equally brief story of the Knight Templar Apron.

7.  “Our early Rulers” a 5 minute version of the story of the early Rulers of Knights Templar, distilled

from the book “Rose Croix” by ACF Jackson

Any Preceptory wishing to use any of the above talks at meetings should contact Em.Kt. David Casdagli, of the

Preceptory of Faith and Hope No 326 whose details are in the Provincial Year Book.

Preceptories are encouraged to make a donation to the St. John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital for the use of these

papers by sending a cheque made payable to them and forwarding the same to the Provincial Treasurer at the

Provincial Chancery, Network House, St. Ives Way, Sandycroft, Deeside CH5 2QS.

If any other Knight has a talk or paper that he wishes to make available for similar use please submit a copy

thereof together with a brief synopsis to the Provincial Vice Chancellor. It will then be considered for inclusion

on this web site.
