Instructions for Installing Various Softwares in the CD

1. Insert the Language CD into computer CD-ROM drive.

2. Wait for few Seconds. The machine will automatically read the CD and the GUI is shown to the user as following.

3. If this CD does not autorun or if you have autorun option switched off then please run the index.exe file manually.

4. This screen may cover up all your desktop area and you may just see this screen. To see the desktop and other Icons, please press ESC button on your keyboard.

5. Next, Click on the Button to enter into the Software selection Menu. You will see screen as below.

6. Click on "Acknowledgements" button to see the contributors for this language CD.

7. "Terms and Conditions" link will take you to the specific Legal Notes.

8. Hover your mouse over specific button to learn more about that tool. Each pop up will tell you about the name of the software, Its one line description , its features, and the kind of user.

9. After pressing the Button of the software you are interested in installing , one more screen will appear. Please Click on the Install button to start the installation of the software.

Brief Description of Tamil Software Tools:

1. Tamil Language Unicode compliant keyboard driver

This Keyboard driver provides support for typing in Tamil language using Open Type Fonts. This Keyboard driver supports Phonetic, INSCRIPT, and Typewriter. The data thus created will be Unicode compliant and hence there will be no data portability issues. This tool is simple to learn and use. The tool has “Floating Keyboard” to help you understand the layouts in a easy manner.

Note: Once you install the keyboard driver, Please choose appropriate keyboard Type and Script Key. Script key should be made “ON” when you have to type in Tamil.

2. Tamil version of Bharateeya Open Office (Open Source)

This includes Tamil language version of Bharateeya Open Office Suite (Impress, Writer, Calc, Base, Math and Draw).

Bharateeya Open Office 3.2 is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages. It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose.

WRITER:

WRITER has everything you would expect from a modern, fully equipped word processor or desktop publisher.

5. Tamil language Arumbu Keyboard Driver with Fonts

This is a collection of Arumbu Keyboard Driver and a collection of nearly ten Unicode otf fonts in an installation format. Just download and double click the installation file. That will install Arumbu keyboard Driver and 10 Tamil unicode fonts into your windows system either it is Windows Xp/Me/Vista/Win7 and more . Please refer Arumbu Help.pdf file present in the CD for more details.

It is a integrated word processor which has a facility to type in different encodings such as English, Monolingual (TAM), Bilingual (Both TAB and TISCII). This also has a facility to convert text from TAM-TAB, TAB-TAM, TISCII-TAB, TAB-TISCII.
