Taplow artist to exhibit in London
805928 A TAPLOW based artist's exhibition opened this week in London.Brian Horton is described as one of England’s most imaginativelandscape painters.
Alongside the exhibition at Messum's in Cork Street in London a newvolume has been released called Brian Horton Blue Remembered Hills byAndrew Lambirth.
It is 160 pages with 108 colour illustrations for £35.
Brian has had a regular series of solo shows with David Messum for morethan 20 years. Messum's Fine Art has its studio in Marlow.
He was born on August 21 1933, and educated at Shrewsbury School andExeter College, Oxford.
Following his NationalService, he enrolled atCheltenham College ofArt, where he metSheila, his future wife.They married in 1957and have three creativedaughters: a sculptor,ceramicist and painter.
Following a spellworking for Lloyds in the City of London, and then taking over an interiordesign company with a friend on Lower Sloane Street, Brian returned topaintings in 1967.
He worked as a painting restorer, finding time for his own paintings onlyoccasionally. These gradually took over, however, and he became aprofessional painter.
