Paringa Christmas Party

The clubs Christmas party was held at the Club House on Dec 13th with 28 attending a very relaxed and enjoyable evening. Thanks Brian for the big effort with the gourmet BBQ and all those that pitched in and made light work of the dishes.

Midweek Twilight Shoot

12th Dec - Great shooting conditions yet again with a PB from Cameron Schwabe. There goes the handicap Cameron. Chook raffle was won by Jeff and Brian promises a mammoth raffle for the last shoot of the year. 19th Dec – Another top night for the last shoot. Four chooks and two tins of Quality Street chocolates up for raffle.

World Archery (WA)

Camo use World Archery has been asked if anything used by the athletes can have a camo colour since the rule refers to clothing.

The answer is that World Archery has had a long standing policy that anything used by an athlete cannot be in a camo colour at World Archery competitions including all clothing, caps, equipment and anything carried or worn on the Field of Play. Archery Austria has requested an interpretation on whether electronic cigarettes are prohibited. It is the unanimous opinion of the Constitution and Rules Committee that electronic cigarettes are prohibited in all locations where smoking is otherwise prohibited under the Rules (see Book 3, Article 12.8: “No smoking is allowed in or in front of the athletes’ area” and see Book 4, Article 28.4: “No smoking is allowed on the courses, in the practice or warm-up areas”).

The AST Target Championships where held at Paringa on the 29th and 30th November with 34 participants from all over the Tas.

Even with the 2 day competition a couple of members took advantage of the Field course on the Sunday. Good to see. Next Target: 14-15 Feb 2015 Organiser: Tournament coordinator

Rabbit of the Month

This section is dedicated to notable actions that members may on occasion happen to do.

It doesn’t pay to be away from the range for too long. Even if it was from being bucked off a rough motor bike. Our intrepid archer had managed to get a lower poundage compound (what commitment) and used the field range to sight in at 40m. Wow all in the gold! Back to the range and 6 at 40m on a nice soft foam butt. What the $#@^$#!, all in the wood. Oh, the targets at 50m. Now he knows how long bowers feel?

The Final Say

I visited George Town (GT) Archers to see how they

are recovering from their recent equipment theft

and if Paringa’s donations have helped out. Six new

recurve bows on the line and Tony (President) told

me six more were on order. The Treasurer also told

me she takes the new bows home and sleeps with

them in her bedroom. Can’t be too careful in

George Town .

2015 “LAUNCESTON” CHALLENGE

Venue: Paringa Archery Club Round: Launceston (36 arrows @ 50m + 36 Arrows @ 30m on an 80cm face) Format: Knockout based on handicaps (not scores) Entry Fee: $0 per archer Prizes: Perpetual Trophy (Donated by Paul Malinowski) Organiser: Jeff Garner Rules:

1. Initial matches selected by blind draw. 2. All rounds must be shot between 1/2/2015 and 30/11/2015. 3. Single scoring with both matched archers signatures and score sheets returned to the Organiser. 4. Must be a Paringa and AA member for the whole 2015 calendar year. 5. Matched archers must shoot the round at the same time. 6. All distances must be shot on the same day. 7. Match may be shot as part of a Club shoot or by the mutual arrangement of matched archers. 8. Archers have 30 days to complete their match from the first date archers are available to compete. 9. Handicaps will be used to decide winners. 10. Tied matches will be decided by a rematch within the original time limit for matches. 11. Accepted Bow types are Compound, Recurve, Recurve Barebow and Longbow. 12. No entries will be accepted after the closing time. 13. The Organisers decision on any disputes or rule interpretation will be final..
