Data & Reasoning Students who failed one TAKS/STAAR test were
more likely to have failed two. Students that were recommended by one content
teacher for intervention were more likely to be recommended by multiple teachers.
Student schedules could not accommodate multiple intervention classes (replaces only one elective).
ELL students who exited the program (monitor phase) were likely to need intervention in multiple content areas.
SCIENCE did not have an intervention level class.
Selection of Students Previous years STAAR scores 3 year ELL “monitor” level students Teacher recommendation Tier 2 students
The Initial Plan 3 content areas: ELA, Science, Math Class size of 15 or less Student and parent(s) must approve
admittance into class (replaces an elective) Rotate through each content area on 3day
schedule Shared gradebooks and attendance Intervention level class supports content
area teaching
The Reality District restructuring removed ELA teaching
position Math-Science rotation, 2 day schedule Increased class size, but not more than 22 Fridays were Review/Reteach/Study (1/2 time
in each classroom) Computer lab component Grades and attendance – not so easy… Students could EXIT at semester if they
showed significant improvement in content areas
