The distinctive style of this bollard’s pencil tip design is impossible to miss. Its graceful shape and soaring profile offer a balance of proportions that is highly original for a device of this kind. A sleek, single-piece aluminium stem, plus a rounded, cap-like head give the device a stylish, unique aura that is never invasive. This is a bollard that can fit into any public-urban or private context without ever looking out of place.

The bollard’s organically inspired design, from which it takes its name (Chiodino = honey mushroom), makes it a highly appealing feature even when it is turned off. And when it is turned on, then it is the light that speaks. Its daytime form disappears and small lines of vertical light shoot up from the various fixtures present, creating a gentle rhythm and a soft and subtle light effect.

If CHIODINO’s original design flirts with private and residential environments, its sturdy strength makes it ideal for the public sphere too, as in any urban lighting project a long-life design is a fundamental requirement.Despite its sleek and slender shape, the bollard is sturdy and highly knock-resistant, demonstrated by

the IK10 rating of its ultra-flat screen and construction materials. The head is made of die-cast aluminium, whereas the stem is a single-piece of aluminium shaped by means of a special conification process.The fixing rod is made of pure steel, as are the vandal-proof screws with which the device is anchored to the ground.

The Targetti Research and Development Department has always paid great attention to the ethical aspects of its designs. With CHIODINO its aim was to create a bollard offering high and virtuous performance by means of an environmentally friendly design that allowed nature to be enjoyed and not disturbed.Thanks to its special, perfectly flat emission screen, the new Targetti bollard takes above horizon emissions to 0cd/klm in compliance with all national and international light pollution laws. This makes it the ideal bollard for public-urban contexts where anti-pollution regulations are particularly strict. Despite its zero light emission above 90°, the CHIODINO lights the space around it in a 360° radius, and with no

shadows whatsoever for a diameter of approximately 6 metres. This allows an interval of at least 3 metres to be left between one device and the next without any significant drop in lighting quality.CHIODINO also helps protect the environment by emitting light only in the visible spectrum, as required by current standards, and thereby significantly reducing energy consumption. Only 18W LED lamps are used. This is thanks to LED technology and more specifically, to the technical adjustments that have been made to maximize the power of the lamps that Targetti selects from the most advanced and up-to-date products on the market.

Of all the bollards on the market, CHIODINO excels for the quality of its light emission. Its double volute reflector, specifically designed by the Targetti Research and Development Department, gives a special depth to the diffusion of light in the environment. Light distribution is unusually even and wide-ranging, with no contrasts and an ample radius that allows the devices to be spaced further apart. This means savings can be made in the number of devices installed and in the absorbed power consumed. With an interval of three metres between one fixtures and the next, the light never drops below 50lux to assure a perfectly uniform effect. With an interval of four metres between one fixtures and the next, the light never drops below 20lux. Visual comfort is excellent too. Light emission is completely indirect and the light source is actually hidden from view. The bollard operates by shining light onto the optic that then reflects the light downwards.The extraordinary sharpness of this light effect is remarkable, even if optional dark shutters are fitted. The light is always perfectly distributed, harmonious and with no visible break or unpleasant shadow effects between one bollard and the next. In fact, the CHIODINO bollard is perfect for lighting parts of the garden or tracing the progress of winding paths or lanes, and is the ideal solution for any context in which light is used to denote space.

One of the features that makes the CHIODINO bollard particularly suited to public projects is undoubtedly the IP65 protection rating of its optic compartment. This, together with its high IK10 rating knock-resistance and vandal-proof screw fixing system, means the device can be installed in any outdoor context whatsoever. Another relevant advantage is the driver which is extremely easy for technicians to access. It is supplied

pre-wired with an output end wire and connected to the optic unit via an easy-to-inspect standard IP68 connector. In addition to all this, Targetti’s carefully selected LEDs and the device’s perfect heat management also allow the lamps to last for well over 50000 hours. This zeroes relamping, redimensions running costs and lengthens the life of the device.

The quality of this device lies not only in its external design but also in the hidden mechanisms that help create its sleek, clean-cut style and sturdy character. One of these is undoubtedly its fixing system, which is lodged inside the device to give the impression that the bollard is simply resting on the ground. This effect is created by a stainless steel fixing rod that fits into the inside of the stem and anchors the bollard firmly

to the ground with special, vandal-proof screws.Another easy-to-install alternative that is recommended for situations where a concrete plinth cannot be laid or exists already, is the circular stainless steel installation plate. Painted the same colour as the device, the plate is positioned between the base of the device and the ground. Here again, a clean, neat result is guaranteed.
