Introduction

Throughout my education, interior design has continued to develop into a growing passion. As a designer, my goal is to take that passion along with my design skills, knowledge, and creativity and apply those elements to our surrounding built environment. Design provides the opportunity to enhance the lives of others, create and renew existing structures, and improve our natural environment. I aspire to make those opportunities possible, and to place my own stamp on the design field. I look forward to breaking into the extensive set of knowledge that the design field has to offer, and using that knowledge to help continue to elevate our built environment.

BackgroundThe challenge was to design a cosmetic retail space that intends to become the global prototype suitable for future roll out and reinterpretation into other store formats. The objective is to design, and develop a cosmetic retail space suitable for high-traffic street locations in London (Bond Street), New York City (Madison Avenue) and Tokyo, Japan. The store is anticipated to be an in-line, main street (1200 sq ft) store on one level. The goal is to align the store environment with the intended consumer journey and the new brand positioning; to create an effective design that conveys the new brand to the guest , and displays innovation through merchandising, sales process and operations.

BackgroundThe first floor of Carpenter Hall has become the new home to Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, and Landscape Architecture for the last two years. The purpose of the redesign of Carpenter First Floor is to both restructure and revamp the space to create a more communal atmosphere that brings students and faculty together. Throughout the design process research was gathered and surveys from students and faculty were taken in order to take into consideration all ideas and concerns that pertained to the project. The new design is to reflect the School of Design and Construction and each major that represents it.

Design ConceptCarpenter Hall is to be redesigned in three separate phases so that changes can be made in both a practical and cost effective manner. The changes and additions will better represent what each discipline has to offer, and potentially draw future students to The School of Design and Construction. Some of these changes include a Cafe which offers both coffee and food options. Designated communal and gathering places for students and faculty, a new, and sponsored Gallery space for artwork and projects to be displayed, and better school branding throughout the first floor. By the end of the five year time span, all of the following changes are to be implemented within the space.

BackgroundThe lower downtown of Denver, Colorado is a historic neighborhood where successful revitalization has created a mix of old and new culture. Denver’s lower downtown (LoDo) is home to a variety of shops, businesses, attractions, and people, which form a large part of its varied culture. The LoDo Environmental Law Office’s main goal is to support Denver’s large and diverse business community and to promote and enforce its sustainable culture and environment. The firm will guide and regulate the interaction between the environment and humanity in order to better our planet.

Design ConceptThe design strives to influence community through its collection of communal and open spaces, and highlights the influence of Denver’s surrounding iconic environment through its sustainable features. Sustainability is incorporated across various design elements such as occupancy-censored lighting, raised, access flooring on the second floor, windows that maximize natural light, a green roof and various environmentally friendly materials just to name a few features.
