For Task 25 Evaluation Activity 5 I am going to explain how my completed magazine attracts and appealing to the target audience for my magazine.

I will include factors like the house style, types of models, shot types and colours.

The target audience is male dominant 14-24 teenagers/young adults who are interested in Rock and pop music. The magazine appeals to a mass audience.

The Male model represent teenagers as the rock type who

are rebellious. This type appeals more to the male audience

which is my primary target audience.

My dominant image is very male dominated as the model is a

male and looks very smug and powerful. This appeals more

to males, however, females are also attracted to the image

appealing to them.

The model is aged 16 (aged between 14-24 which is the age

range for the target audience. Therefore making the cover

appeal to the target audience. The model is male which is

also the primary target audience.

The magazines genre is pop and rock. The series of images

on the left third contains the rock feel because of the amp

and his posture. He also fits the target audience of young

adults who are male.

The house colours of black, white and red are very masculine

which appeal to the male gender more than the female

gender. It also is associated with pop and rock as red is a

vibrant colour like pop, and black is a dark colour like Rock.

The model is male and in the target audiences age range

therefore represents the target audience as a role model as

they are successful and could inspire the audience.

The guitar prop proposes that the magazine is about acoustic

music also, therefore increasing the target audience to

people interested in acoustic music

The writing style in the index and editors note are informal

and the tone is friendly and casual. This appeals to the target

audience as they don’t want to read a huge amount of text

which uses complex language. They would find it much more

interesting if it was basic and informative.

The house colours are continued throughout to the contents

page which are very masculine colours and therefore more

appeals to the target audience which is more aimed at males.

The model in the DPS Pages is

male which is the primary

target audience for my

magazine and appeals to

males because he is like a

role model to them as he is a

similar age and gender, yet

very successful therefore

appealing to males.

The model is also in the age

range for the magazines

target audience therefore the

target audience see him as a

friendly person.

The dark background appeals

to the rock genre which is a

section of the target audience

who are into rock music.

The advertorial on the page

appeals to the younger

generation as it is digitally

downloading and the majority

of downloads and users on

the internet our people in the

age range.

The house colours

continue on into the DPS

pages. The house colours

are male dominant and

therefore appeal to the

male audience more than

the female because the

colours are often favored

by males and also fit the

pop/rock genre of the

magazine.

The copy on the page is written

for the target audience using

informal language which is

witty and conversational. This

is more interesting for the

reader.

Conclusion

I have identified the elements in my magazines four pages which will attract the target audience for my magazine and make them buy the issue. I also explained how I will address them and represent them through the models.

I believe the unique selling point fro WHO? Magazine is that the magazine isn’t focusing on a niche market, whereas has a mass market as it covers a lot of different genres of music therefore appealing to more types of people. It also isn’t hugely male dominant meaning that females would also buy the magazine and enjoy it.
