This Act refers certain matters relating to corporations and financial products and services to the Parliament of the Commonwealth (s. 5) so that the laws so made apply of their own force in Tasmania instead of those matters being dealt with by the Corporations Law and other applied laws.

General notes:

The reservation of certain land, under this Act, was revoked by the Regional Forest Agreement (Land Classification) Act 1998, ss. 7, 8, 15(3), 17 and 19 and Scheds. 3, 4, 8 (Pt. 2), 9 (Pt. 1) and 10 and entered into the Register of Multiple Use land (Sched. 3 list) under the Forestry Act 1920 or deleted from that Register (Sched. 4 list) and dedicated as State forest and forest reserve under that Act, or reserved as "State reserve" (Pt. 2 of Sched. 8), "conservation area" (Pt. 1 of Sched. 9 list) or "nature recreation area" (Sched. 10 list) under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970.

The reservation of land remaining as reserved under this Act on 31 December 2001 was revoked by the Regional Forest Agreement (Land Classification) Act 1998, ss. 9 and 10 and Sched. 5 (Pt. 1). The areas revoked under s. 10(2) that were not State forest or reserved land, plus some areas specified in Sched. 5 (Pt. 2), were then reserved as public reserves under this Act. Such land is subject to the provisions of the Mineral Resources Development Act 1995.
