TASMANIAN TIGER has been successfully providing ruck-sacks for a variety of applications for many years. Mature carrier systems specifically developed for heavy loads (X1 system) or force-fit carrying during movement-intensive deployment (X Lite Vario system) make each and every model an absolute high-end product. In terms of the design process, TASMANIAN TIGER benefits from its sister company TATONKA, one of the main suppliers of top quality rucksacks to the European outdoor market.Constant development of our first aid products is given special importance within our company and is based on the requirements of troop units. In the form of the new MOVE ON pack, TASMANIAN TIGER has expanded its range with a modular rucksack comprising a small and a large rucksack, each of which can also be used separately to provide a highly flexible breadth of application.

An in-company design team works closely with our pro-duct users and material suppliers, while material selection corresponds to the highest requirements in terms of functionality, durability and safety. Through continuous input from men and women in active service, the practical product requirements are optimally integrated during the design process.TASMANIAN TIGER products are developed in-house from the prototype stage to series maturity and are manufac-tured in our own production plant. This means that we can quickly intervene, modify and improve at any stage. We believe that such a process is the only way to constantly ensure the highest possible quality standards.

All working processes, from material acquisition through to manufacture and final inspection, are defined by us and checked according to international standards.

All products are inspected before leaving production.

Each product also receives a unique serial number and is stored in our database.

TASMANIAN TIGER – why the name fits

The Tasmanian Tiger, also known as the Thylacine or Tasmanian Wolf, was the largest carnivorous marsupial native to continental Australia. Roughly the size of a small wolf, the Tasmanian Tiger owes its name to its striped back, which served as camouflage. Although not a speedy animal, this persevering nocturnal hunter tracked its prey until it tired, before then attacking it. Armed with an exceptional set of teeth and jaws that could open up to 180 degrees, the Tasmanian Tiger was a merciless hunter. The Tasmanian Tiger has been classed as extinct on the Australian mainland since the 1930’s, the last of its kind having lived in Tasmania. In 1966, a large protected area was designated in the southwest of the island to provide the animals with a reserve in order to protect the species from extinction. Although to this day there have been no actual sightings of the Tasmanian Tiger, numerous people believe that it has managed to survive unseen in the reserve… This lore illustrates the animal’s extraordinary characteri-stics; its will to survive, hunting instinct, superb camou-flage, guile, strength and perseverance. It also moved us to name our products TASMANIAN TIGER – the myth lives on!

The original Multicam® /Cordura® used by us was developed by the American company Crye Precision in cooperation with the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Center. Under the most varied of conditions and irrespective of light exposure or actual terrain the Multicam camouflage pattern is „merely“ perceived as background by the human eye. This ensures that the contours of the wearer optimally blend in – even under infrared conditions. The Multicam pattern is currently being used by special forces and military throughout the world.

BACkpACkS

Putting a rucksack on – Never raise rucksack from theground and then onto the shoulder when your knees areextended. First raise the rucksack with the carrying grip,and slip into one shoulder strap and then into the other. Ifyou can‘t raise the rucksack, you can lift it onto your thighand then bring it into carrying position.

fitting a rucksack – To properly fit a rucksack, it must beloaded and all the straps must initially be loosened. Theorder in which the belts and straps are tightened is impor-tant: Always start with the hip belt, then the shoulder straps, and then the positioning adjustment straps. Approximately the middle of the hip belt should close around the hip bones. Then tighten the shoulder straps. The padding should be snug against the shoulders. But do not make them too tight as this shifts the load too far away from the hips and onto the shoulders. The position adjustment straps (on the shoul-der straps) must be attached in the area of the collar bone. By slightly tightening them, the rucksack is positioned on the back. Make sure the shoulder straps lay clean and snug to the shoulders. The length of the back is correct if the position adjustment straps are adjusted between 20° and 30° to the horizontal. For anything less than 20° you should select a longer back and for anything more than 30° a shorter back.The sternum strap between the shoulder straps relievesthe shoulder joints of loads.

Packing – The closer heavy objects are to the body, the easier it is to put a rucksack on and to balance it while car-rying. Heavy objects should be placed over lighter objects at shoulder height. Only the basic necessities should be carried on the outside, but a variety of our rucksacks provide practical attachment possibilities for attaching things to the side, such as tent poles. A sleeping bag belongs in the bot-tom compartment. Stuff sacks keep everything organized for stowing in the main compartment or side pockets.

Sternum strap – The anatomically-designed S-shapedshoulder straps from TASMANIAN TIGER provide improved freedom of movement and thus relieve neck muscles. The heightadjustable sternum strap on TASMANIAN TIGER rucksacks improve freedom of movement; for example while skiing or climbing, the sternum strap stabilizes the shoulder straps and prevents the rucksack from slipping from the shoulders.

x1-SySTEMHigh-end carrying system for heavy loads. The X1 System was developed specifically for heavy loads. It works based on a sys-tem that is as simple as it is ingenious:

Two ergonomically shaped, crossed aluminium bars in frame channels 1 transfer part of the carrying load laterally to the specially padded hip strap 2 transferring the load from the back to the hips. The anatomically positioned, ultra-comfortable hip strap consists of a multi-layered hip fin with a reinforcement panel in PE. The deflected belt strap 3 makes it easier to tighten and set in position. A rubberised lumbar pad 4 between the hip fins prevents the rucksack from slipping. A short, anatomically shaped aluminium rod 5 behind it guarantees the optimum fit.The back padding 6 above it is ultra-concave in shape, sewn into chambers for better ventilation, and rests perfectly against the back with its generous technical padding. The load control straps 7 can be partially attached in two different positions for optimum setting. Soft, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps 8 with height adjustment 9 increase the level of comfort. The lid is also height adjustable 10 .

x LITE vARIO-SySTEMSize-adjustable carrying system for movement-intensive use. As a light version of the popular X1 system, crossed shaped glass fibre rods 1 efficiently transfer the load from the shoulders to the ergonomi-cally shaped hip strap.

The lightweight GFP (glass fibre reinforced plastic) rods run inside frame channels, and so transfer the load from the shoulders to the hips. A GRP rod 2 worked diagonally into the top positioning point of the rods provides lateral stability. The three-part ergonomically shaped hip strap consists of a central lumbar with a rubberised insert 3 to prevent the ruck-sack from slipping, as well as two comfortable hip fins 4 . They have several layers of padding and are reinforced with PE plate. Concave shaped technical back padding 5 also ensures a perfect fit. Thanks to the Tasmanian Tiger ladder adjustment 6 system, the shoulder straps 7 can easily be adjusted to the length of the user’s back.

x vENT-SySTEMventilated carrying system for small to medium backpacks. The X Vent System combines the clever load distri-bution of the X systems with the pleasant carrying comfort of a ventilation system.

The two lightweight cross aluminium profiles 1 run in two channels on the rear panel of the backpack. At the top positioning point of the profile 2 the mesh 3 can be tightened or loosened depending on

whether ventilation is required or if the rucksack is to sit directly against the back. The carrying load is transferred laterally to the hip strap in durable Hyp-alon pockets 4 .The hip strap has been re-designed to be particularly ergonomic, with new panel geometry and padding for even greater comfort. If the rucksack is to be used with the mesh panel loose, i.e. against the body, then additional comfort will be provided by the secondary back padding 5 . The curved shoulder straps 6 are made of a particularly light, pleasant material.

v2-SySTEM Size-adjustable carrying system for medium to heavy loads. Two aluminium bars 1 forming an inverted "V" plus two short fibreglass reinforced bars for additional support form the central static unit.

The two fibreglass reinforced bars 2 lead from the inner aluminium frame channels laterally into the hip wings. 3 The dimensions and arrangement of these reinforced bars result in an excellent combina-tion of efficient load transmission and system flexibility. Three-part ergonomically shaped hip strap consists of a central lumbar pad with a rubberised insert 4 to prevent the rucksack from slipping, and two conically shaped hip wings. They have several layers of comfortable padding, are reinforced with a PE panel and can easily be tightened and adjusted using a deflected belt strap. 5 The new technical back padding 6 consists of a number of chambers, and is conically shaped to ensure the optimum position and contact with the rucksack. The load control straps 7 can be attached in two diffe-rent positions for optimum adjustment. Soft, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps 8 with height adjustment 9 further increase the level of comfort. The lid is also height-adjustable 10 .

MATERIALS

185 Polyester PU – The outer tent material of the BasicLine is provided on the inside with a quadruple PU coating(water column 8000mm). This light-weight polyester material has proven its UV-resistant and colorfast properties. Because this weavecannot absorb water, it does not expand in wet conditions.

190 T Nylon – This very light and waterproof fabric made of 70 denier nylon has a pleasantly soft .

210 DEN Nylon Oxford PU – Light, robust Oxford fabric made of 210 denier nylon yarn with triple PU coating.

420 HD Nylon – The classic 420 denier polyamide (nylon) material is unbeatable in its uncompromising quality. It has proved itself as a good basic material in its High Density (HD) grade which can be used for a variety of products. The 420 HD denier fibres provide a high level of tear-resistance and the material is water-proofed with four coats of polyurethane.

Cordura 500 DEN – We are using the classic CORDURA® fabrics made from INVISTA high tenacity, air-jet textured nylon 6.6 in 500Denier and 1000Denier. CORDURA® brand provides fabrics that are recognized for their long-lasting durability and resistance to abrasions, tears and scuffs and is more durable than other fabrics. No matter the appli-cation, CORDURA® fabric offers a superior strength-to-weight ratio, making it a first-choice for durable fabrics.

Cordura 700 DEN – Cordura 700 DEN (100% PA) ist the latest deve-lopment by INVISTA and gives us the chance of a relaunch for the brand CORDURA. By using the new 700Den fi ber we combine the advantages of high abrasion resistance and tearing strength of the 1000Den fabric with the lightweight of the 500Den version.

Schoeller WB400 – Schoeller WB 400 is a very high-quality SoftShell material made up of three layers. The upper fabric is comprised of elasticated nylon fabric, which enables plenty of room to move and repels dirt. An acrylate coating in the middle (in place of an additional membrane) repels waters, without obstructing sweat transportation. The napped inside of the fabric made of polyester stores heat and is pleasant to wear. The material is extremely resilient against rain, snow and wind (5-15 l/m²/s) and offers noticeable breathability (8000g/m²/24h) and is very comfortable to wear. It is also equipped with 3xDRY finishing. The multifunctional high-tech finishing repels moisture and dirt, quickly transports moisture from the inside to the outside, is extremely breathable and fast-drying.

T-SoftShell – This light, 3-layered soft shell material by Pontetorto is warm, soft, windproof, water-repellent and breathable. Thanks to the share of elastane this is a fabric that moves with you.

T-Softshell Light – The two-layered soft shell material by Pontetorto combines a robust outer side with a soft, check patterned inside made of Tecnopile fleece.

T-Technopile Basic 200 – As the name already indicates, this is an extre-mely versatile all-round material (260g/m2; 100% polyester) which we use in technical and leisure areas. It is light, warm and snugly, and yet so robust and resistant to pilling that it will put up with lots - and remain beau-tifully attractive after many washes.

T-Technopile Micro 100 – The Italian manufacturer Pontetorto is known for the incomparable quality and surface finish of its fleeces. The fineness and supersoft feel of this wonderful 100 MicroFleece (160g/m2; 100% polyes-ter) are striking.

T-Tecnopile NoWind – This functional 3-layered material with an outer side made of Pontetorto fleece and a windproof and steam-permeable Pontetorto NoWind membrane stands out with its checked fleece lining.

T-Travel Cotton – This is a very densely woven, robust cotton mix fabric with a waxed surface and pleasantly soft feel.

Texamid 11.1 – 1000 Den textured nylon warp-and-weft weave results in an extremely rip and abrasion resistant material. A durable PU coating ensures a high degree of water resistance, and a special process makes this material pleasant to the touch. Texamid 11.1 is now being used in the bottom sec-tions of backpacks, bags and for reinforcement points.

Textreme 6.6 – This textured polyester material out of 600 Den yarn is rugged, colourfast and has a variety of uses. It is PU coated for water-resistance. Tarpaulin 1000 – Strong tarp material made of 1000 denier yarn with a smooth surface that is used mainly for bags. The polyester fabric is coated on both sides, absolutely waterproof and easy-care.

Wind Shield fleeceOur materials have reworked the „wind chill“ effect: The very densely woven „Pontetorto Windshield“ 3-ply fleece is more windproof than conventional fleece materials. Because no membrane was processed, the material is extremely breathable, too.
