AT CANNOCK CAMPUS

Our taster days are primarily for year 10 and 11 students, who wish to experience a taste of what life could be like as a student with us.Whatever your interests, a taster course will provide you with the opportunity to experience a variety of subjects first hand. All subjects will include practical activities, so please wear suitable protective clothing and footwear.

Young people that require a smaller supported group can opt for this by simply ticking the SLDD column on the booking form on the back of this leaflet and we will confirm all details and requirements directly with you.

You may only choose one subject to experience per day and there is a charge of £10.00 per taster which must be paid in advance at time of booking.

This charge covers any materials, and lunch per person, per day.

Sandwiches and drinks will be provided for lunch and served in Cannock Campus Cafe.

Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy This is your chance to tour the hair and beauty department and enjoy a hands-on experience, introducing you to both the theory and practical skills required for a career in hairdressing.

Care (Childcare and Health & Social) Do you want a career working in the Care Industry? Do you want to help nurture young children or help people enjoy a happy and comfortable life? Join us on our taster day where you’ll be able to enjoy a range of practical activities including:

• Skills and qualities for Care • Sensory play • Hygiene practices • Decorating biscuits

Motor Vehicle (Progress Centre) Our Motor Vehicle taster day is the perfect opportunity for you to get your hands dirty! You’ll enjoy an introduction to motor vehicle theory as well as practical workshop sessions. Learn how to change spark plugs and carry out general vehicle maintenance activities. Overalls, boots and other protective equipment will be provided but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

Public Services If you want a career in public services this taster day is the perfect opportunity for you to enjoy an exciting range of hands-on activities. From a military style bootcamp to a crime scene investigation this day is a high energy, fun way of gaining an insight into the career of your dreams. You’ll also enjoy a range of problem solving activities and fitness testing, so please bring your trainers and appropriate clothing.
