    This Magazine is aimed for students who recently just left home foruniversity. Your adventure starts here. You will be cooking foryourself for the first time, if you dont do it already. My recipes areeasy to make and affordable. This is to inspire your everyday

    cooking and for those who need a little inspiration.

    These recipes are a favourite of mine. They are dishes that I enjoy

    cooking for myself, family and friends. As a student myself, I

    believe that sometimes you need to spice things up and take a

    different approach and make your Lunch and Dinner less boring.

    Stay away from noodles and pasta, leave them for those lazy days,

    as with this Magazine you are able to make great meals with many

    flavours using a variety of ingredients which are easy to prepare.Dont worry they are all under a good budget.

    Its meals that you can cook yourself and not have to go out to eat

    at a restaurant and at the same time your teaching yourself become

    a better cook and also, you are saving money!!! My dishes reflect

    on my day to day living but I hope that some of you can incorporate

    some of it into your days, lives and meals.

    Hot& Spicy Chicken wings

    Ingredients

    4 chicken wings

    teaspoon Dried chillies

    teaspoon Black pepper

    teaspoon Rock salt1 Lemon

    A splash of Oil for cooking

    1 Garlic finely chopped

    To serve

    Basmati rice

    Lettuce finely sliced

    8 Cherry tomatoes

    COOKING:45 minutes PREPARATION:10 minutesSERVES: 2

    In a bowl mix all the ingredients

    together with the chicken wings leave

    in the fridge for 10 minutes.

    Pre heat oven to 180c.

    In a baking tray drizzle some oil and

    place the chicken wings in the oven

    and cook for 30 minutes or until they

    are golden brown.

    Deep fried Calamari

    COOKING:45 minutes PREPARATION:10 minutesSERVES:1

    Preheat oil in a frying pan.

    Slice the squid into rings and rest it on the side

    In a bowl mix the flour, paprika, salt and black pepper and dip the

    squid in and set them on a plate.

    Dip the floured squid in the frying pan for 2-3 minutes until golden

    brown. Optional you can dip the squid in beaten egg and then fryit.

    Serve with salad or sauce on the side.

    You can never go wrong with Fried Calamari they are great as a starter or as a side dish.

    Ingredients

    1 Squid

    teaspoon Black pepper

    teaspoon Salt

    teaspoon Paprika1 Beaten egg optional

    Vegetable oil for deep frying

    INGREDIENTS

    2 Sliced potatoes

    1teaspoon salt

    2 tablespoons flour

    1 1/2 cup cold milk

    2 tablespoons Butter

    30g grated cheese

    SloW CookedPOTATOESWith white sauce

    In a sauce pan melt the butter,

    with a wooden spoon stir in the

    flour and milk turn down the

    heat and leave it to cook stirring

    occasionally until the mixture isthickened.

    Remove sauce from heat

    and set it on the side

    place the sliced potatoes

    into the sauce and 2tbsp

    of milk and bring it to

    cook for 15 minutes.

    Pre heat oven 180c

    meanwhile pour the

    pour the mixture in a

    casserole dish and

    sprinkle the cheese on

    top, bake for 30

    minutes.

    MashBangersand

    A very classic dish Sausages with mash sure to impress and please family and

    friends on those winter days. With fresh ingredients all under a good budget.

    Ingredients

    6 Sausages

    10 cherry tomatoes halved

    1 small onion sliced

    2 garlic cloves chopped

    2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

    teaspoon Black pepper

    1 teaspoon Salt

    teaspoon Paprika

    2 1/2 tablespoons of oil for cooking

    6 large potatoes

    50 ml milk2 tablespoons butter

    300g Frozen peas

    COOKING:45 minutes PREPARATION:15 minutesSERVES: 3

    For the sausages

    In a large pan heat the oil. Fry the onion until it

    starts to soften add the garlic and the halved cherry

    tomatoes black pepper paprika salt and balsamic

    vinegar put the lid on and cook for 5 minutes.

    Add the sausages turn the heat up and cook foranother 10-15 minutes.

    Remove from heat and rest it on the side ready to

    serve.

    Mash

    In a large pan boil the potatoes checking them

    occasionally until their soft and mash them.

    Heat milk and pour it over the mash, add the

    butter a pinch of salt and black pepper and mix

    until creamy.

    In a saucepan boil the peas for 2-3 minutes.

    Serve the mash, peas and sausages.

    Homemade

    BurgersWith chips

    Ingredients

    1 sliced onion

    8 Streaky bacon slices

    500g mince beef

    1 garlic clove

    30g grated Cheese

    Lettuce

    Chips

    In a bowl combine all the

    ingredients with the mincedbeef and cover it with cling film

    to allow all the flavours to set in.

    Fry the burgers in a shallow pan

    with a drizzle of oil once their

    brown reduce the heat and slow

    cook them through for 10

    minutes.

    Meanwhile Slice your onions and fry them until they are soft and brown

    leave to cool.

    Streaky Bacon fry it until crispy.

    To serve burger bun, chips, cheese, lettuce, mayonnaise or ketchup(optional) enjoy!

    Lunch with FriendsIngredients

    8 salmon

    Baby potatoes

    2 teaspoons Salt

    2 teaspoons blackpepper

    10 Cherry tomatoes

    Go for a lighter option when you have friends

    round. And have a nice slow roasted salmon with

    some roasted potatoes and salad as a side. A dish

    you can never go wrong with and its easy/quick tomake.

    Salmon

    Drizzle some oil

    on the tray and

    season your

    salmon with salt,

    black pepper.

    Lemon and half of

    the garlic cover itwith cling film and

    set it on the side

    for 10 minutes.

    Potatoes

    In a large pan boil

    the potatoes for 5-

    10 minutes, once

    their boiled place

    the potatoes

    in a tray. Drizzle

    some oil and place

    the potatoes.

    Top them with a

    drizzle of oil, salt,

    black pepper and

    the remaining

    Place them both in the oven at the same

    time for 30 minutes until the potatoes are

    golden brown.

    Serve with salad (optional).

    Dinner with Friends

    Ingredients

    1 whole chicken

    1kg Mini potatoes

    5 Carrots

    3 Parsnips

    1 teaspoon Black pepper

    1 teaspoon Salt

    1 Lemon

    2 potatoes (for the stuffing)

    1 onion chopped

    Vegetable Oil

    12 Frozen Yorkshire puddings

    Chicken gravy

    Broccoli (optional)

    You can never go wrong with this classic Sunday

    roast. Great for a get together with family and

    friends.

    Pre heat oven 200c

    In a large pan boil the

    potatoes checking them

    occasionally until their

    soft and mash then mix in

    the chopped onions and 1

    teaspoon salt and set itaside.

    COOKING:1 hours PREPARATION:20 minutes SERVES: 4

    Rub the chicken with

    salt, black pepper,

    lemon and a drizzle of

    olive oil, place it in a

    baking tray.

    Stuff the chicken with the

    mash and place it in the

    oven, roast it for 30 minutes

    and then turn the heat down

    to 180c.

    Add the sliced carrots andbaby potatoes to the

    roasting pan turning it with

    the juices. Place it back in

    the oven to roast for another

    25-30 minutes.

    Meanwhile place the Yorkshire puddings

    cooking for 30 minutes. For the parsnip mash

    boil the parsnips season it with salt and black

    pepper and mash it.

    Boil the broccoli for 5 minutes and set it asideready to serve.

    Remove the tray from the oven and turn the chicken upside down and turn thevegetables in the juice return it to the oven for a another 30 minutes

    Repeat the same process and the 10 minutes remaining increase the oven to 200c

    to get a crispy skin.

    At last serve with roasted potatoes, broccoli and gravy.

    Ingredients

    2 Lamb chops

    5 Baby potatoes

    1 Garlic clove

    teaspoon Salt

    teaspoon Blackpepper

    1 lemon

    Season the lamb chops with salt lemon and black

    pepper, in a shallow pan drizzle some oil and slow cook

    it.

    In a large pan boil the potatoes for 5-10 minutes, once

    their boiled place the potatoes in a tray. Drizzle some

    oil and place the potatoes. Top them with a drizzle of

    oil, salt, black pepper and the remaining and cook foran extra 15 minutes.

    Serve with salad on the side (optional).
