    It was on October 8,

1993 when BCBP Cebuopened Mactan Outreachwith its first breakfastfellowship. It progressedvery slowly that it took

almost a year beforeBCLP1 was conducted.

    What started in 1994as a 15-couple and 5 sin-gles BCBP Mactan out-reach is now a vibrant

chapter of almost 200active members. FromBCLP1 God blessed uswith abundant harvests. There was even a time

when there were over ahundred participants to

    the BCLP.

We did not rest onour laurels though. As

the Spirit led us so wewent. We crossed theseas and braved thestorm when weopened Ormoc out-reach in October1995.

In 1999 we flew toMindanao and openedZamboanga Outreach.

A very daring movefor a young chapter. But God is good. Hesustained us until

TO OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF BCBP MACTAN CHAPTER :

Congratulations on your 17th Anniversary. An anniversary is always a good time

to thank the Lord for the blessings received during the past year- for the gift ofCommunity, for the opportunity to serve the Lord through the BCBP, for the lead-ers that cared for you in your walk with the Lord during the past year and for themany other blessings that you have received during the past year. Indeed, you have

so much to thank the Lord for. However, this is also a good time to look back andask the Lord to help you see where you have failed Him and seek the Lords helpand guidance so you can be more faithful and true to His call for our community.Let us never forget that we are an evangelistic community and we are here becauseof Gods call for us to evangelize the businessmen and professionals in our area intoliving our Christian values and being change agents in our marketplace. Have you

been faithful to our Lords call?

My prayer is that your chapter will continue to grow stronger and be morepassionate and zealous in pursuing the Vision and Mission that the Lord has givenour community.

May our Blessed Mother help you to grow in your love for Jesus and for one

another.Again, Congratulations and God bless the BCBP Mactan Chapter!

Fruits of the Holy Spirit: Joy and Peace

The Fruit of the Spirit is ... Joy.

Our joy, comes from God dwelling in us. As such it remains with us for as long as we re-main in God. Joy, as we understand it, is the fruit or the result of the work of the Holy

Spirit in us. The cause for rejoicing is Emmanuel, God with us.

The Fruit of the Spirit is ... Peace.

Does it mean absence of war or trouble? It means that and much more. We

aspire to be peacemakers who, as Jesus says, will be called children of God.(Mt. 5:9)

    Complete Joy

Joy: Fruit of Gods Indwelling in Us and Among Us

Joy is the result of an intimate and fruitful life with and in God. It is experienced as

an inward rest and peace even in the midst of trouble of difficulties. Gods abiding pres-ence with us gives us confidence to face anything. (Ex. 33:14)

Joy: Sign of a New Life

Jesus promises joy as a sign of new life. (John 16-20b-22) Jesus connects joy with

the promise of seeing Him again. It is similar to the joy we experience when a dear friendreturns after a long absence.

    Joy: Celebration of Life

For a disciple, following the Lord involves celebration. When we speak of celebra-tion, we do not refer to parties on special occasions. Rather, we speak of .an ongoing

awareness that every moment is special and asks to be lifted up and recognized as ablessing from on high.. (p.99. Lifesigns, Henri Nouwen)

Joy: Gift to the Community of Believers

Joy is not just a quality radiating from individual persons. It is as much, if not moreso, a gift to the community of believers...Community is the place where God completesour lives with His joy. Every word Jesus spoke was spoken to share His own joy with us

and thus make our joy complete. This complete joy is always ours, that is, it belongs to alife together (p. 103, 105. Lifesigns, Henri Nouwen)

    Peace

Purity of Heart: Pre-requisite to peace

    Interior peace

Eager for peace, even in the midst of conflict

Able to deal with objective evil and to resolve any broken relationship Keeps no record of wrongs. (1 Cor. 13:5)

    Peace with God

Peace as Reconciliation with God by the cross of Christ

Peace as Fruit of the Spirit

    Peace with One Another

When Jesus died on the cross, He did not only make it possible for us to be reconciled

with God, He also made it possible for us to reconciled with one another. (Eph. 2:13-16)

And Gods love was just awesome. The rainpoured some minutesafter the activity ended.
