Overview On Monday, April 6 th Campbell County School District will begin educating all K-12 students remotely. Regardless of the current situation, CCSD will continue to strive to meet the two goals identified in the District’s Strategic Plan. 1. Student Achievement and 2. Student/Staff Well-being are still attainable in an alternative format. CCSD staff are eager to reengage with the students and families they serve. Currently it is unknown how long adapted delivery will be necessary. Decisions will be made using the expertise of the Department of Health and State Officials. The following plan has been approved by the Wyoming Department of Education. It is designed to offer meaningful instruction in an engaging, family-friendly format. Each school has developed an adapted learning plan to meet the needs of their students. Modifications to the plans will be made as necessary. Delivery Instruction will be delivered through several methods, including: live/recorded presentations, communication applications, collaborative lessons, threaded discussions, hands-on activities, learning packets, flipped lessons, independent projects, and telephonic communication. Opportunities for remediation and enrichment will also be provided. The instructional model will be sequenced to meet Wyoming State Standards through:
1. Identification of learning objectives 2. Instruction 3. Student practice 4. Demonstration of learning
Google Classroom will be the primary platform for which Thunder Basin will deliver instruction. Individual classroom codes will be available through students’ Gmail and on the Thunder Basin website.
Attendance/Participation Student attendance and participation is mandatory for grade level advancement and credit attainment. Wyoming laws (21-4-102) for compulsory attendance remain in full effect. Students will be expected to complete all required work, which will be graded accordingly. Technology Availability School staff have been actively contacting families to evaluate their technology needs. Devices are available for check out. Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s school to request devices. CCSD continues to work with network providers to develop connectivity.
Special Programs Students with disabilities will continue to receive special education and related services as indicated in their IEP to the best of our ability in an adapted delivery model. Special programs staff will be communicating with parents and students throughout this process regarding student services. In addition, special programs staff will be working collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide accommodations and modifications for students. Nutrition Services All CCSD students may receive free breakfast and lunch at identified sites from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Student Support Services Support services for students remain in place. School counselors are available to provide academic guidance, social/emotional learning and career and college readiness. Parents may contact their child’s school to consult with nursing staff regarding student health. The Kid Clinic, CCSD’s school based health center, remains open to provide primary care and mental health services. Cancellations All CCSD activities have been cancelled through April 17, 2020. The status of all other activities are To Be Determined (TBD).
