1.1 Overview
The PCIe Bus Card JTNI Series for the Information and Control Network TC-net 100 is a series of interface cards connecting PCIe buses, the most used of internal buses for general-purpose personal computers, to the TC-net 100, which is a control LAN (Local Area Network) having the realtime characteristics of Ethernet.
The standard transmission line configuration of the TC-net 100 is dual, which permits highly reliable system configuration. The JTNI6 series comes in two models: JTNI62 with a transmission line interface of optical fiber cord (GI 62.5/125 or GI 50/125). Models JTNI61 (optical) for single transmission line configuration are also available.

WARNING • For safety, check that the personal computer in which the PCI bus
card is installed has been switched off. Then, remove the computer cover.
• For safety, do not touch other than the switches. • For safety, do not disassemble the card.
CAUTION • The static charged in the human body can cause the product to fail.
Discharge the static from the human body before setting the switches.• Place the product on the electroconductive bag, which contained the
product, or on an electroconductive mat before setting the switches. Failure to observe this could cause the product to fail due to static.
• Subjecting the product to strong stress inside may cause trouble. Exercise caution to keep your hands and tools off other parts than the switches in setting them.
• Do not change the switch settings unless necessary. Wrong settings will prevent normal operation.
• Be sure to set station addresses. Do not connect the card to the network before setting station addresses.
• If you have any question, Contact one of Toshiba service representatives.
CAUTION • Perform a power supply setup of PC as follows.
· Do not use the sleep mode. · Do not use the power-saving mode.
When setup differs, this card may not operate normally.

3.1 Setting Switches
Unified Controller TC-net 100 PCI express Card JTNI6 Instruction Manual 11
Before installing the card in a personal computer, set the station address of the card, using the switches on the side of the card. (Refer to Figure 2-1 The card appearance)
Use a small flat-blade screwdriver for this purpose.
3.1 Setting Switches
• Station address setting: STN-H, STN-L (hexadecimal rotary switches)

4.1 Before Starting
■ Working Conditions
DANGER • Before installing the card, be sure to turn off the PC, and pull out the
power cable plug. Keeping power on during installation could cause electric shock.
Note It is recommended that you wear work gloves to protect your fingers from injuries by the
corners, etc. of the printed circuit board.
Important Do not install the card in an environment where static can easily be generated (on a carpet,
for example). The static charged in the human body could cause the electrical parts to fail. Touch a grounded piece of metal to discharge the static from the body before starting installation.
Choose a place as free of moisture and dust as possible, and not exposed to direct sunlight. Observe the specified ambient temperature and humidity ranges, and do not subject the card
to condensation or other abrupt temperature change.
■ Working Method Note
Do not touch other than those parts necessary for the work. Be careful not to loose the removed screws, and not to drop them inside the computer. If you find an error or failure, Contact one of Toshiba service representatives. Be careful not to be injured by the sharp projections on the extension board. In using a screwdriver for connecting the connectors or installing an extension board, be sure
to use one which fits the screws. A screwdriver that does not fit the screws is unsteady in the cross of the screw head. Such a screwdriver will not properly convey the force, possibly causing damage to the cross.
DANGER • Never disassemble anything other than those necessary for
installing the options mentioned in the manual. • Do not open the power unit cover. The high-voltage part of the
power unit could cause electric shock. The power unit is located as shown in the figure below and carries a warning label on it for you to observe.
-
4.2 Installation

4.2 Installation
Follow the steps below to install the card.
(1) Remove the front panel if necessary.
For details, refer to the instruction manual of the PC which you are installing the card to.
(2) Remove the computer cover.
For the procedure of removing the computer cover, refer to the instruction manual of the PC which you are installing the card to. Be sure to observe the following.
DANGER • Before removing the computer cover, pull out the power plug.
Touching the live parts inside could cause electric shock.
(3) Installing the card
Install the card as described below.
CAUTION • Do not touch the heat sink of the CPU.
The heat sink is still hot after switching power off, possibly causing burns.
Important To install an extension board, take adequate measures against static (by wearing gloves, for
example).
Note The extension slot is subject to restrictions on current capacity. Before installing an extension
board, check that its rated current does not exceed the current capacity of your personal computer.
To install the extension card, follow the procedures below.
Remove the screw (M3x6) that fastens the mask panel, then remove the mask panel. Keep the removed mask panel with care
