Skills Support for the Unemployed/Redundancy (SSU/SSR)

By July 2015:

- 14,599 individuals to receive support including a minimum of 10 hours of guided learning;

- 9,867 to achieve an accredited qualification or at least one unit;

- 9,024 into employment – of which:

- An estimated 1,480 into self-employment/business through the self-employment option of Practical Skills for Business (PSfB)

Eligibility

All individuals must be aged 19 or over and be resident in the East of England and either:

- under consultation of redundancy or;- under notice of redundancy or;- notified that they may be affected by downsizing or closure or;- newly unemployed not yet claiming benefits or recently started claiming

or;- those who are unemployed, in receipt of benefits, looking for work and

requiring skills training to help them into work.

The Youth Contract

• 16-17 year olds• Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET)• No GCSEs Grades A* - C• 3 year contract• Engage with over 4,700 participants across all 11 Local Education Authority areas across

the East of England• Personalised Intensive Mentoring Support to engage young people and re-engage them in

– F/T Time and P/T Education/Training – Existing EFA Funded Provision– Employment with Training– Apprenticeship

• Sustained Progression– Continuous Mentoring Support– 5 out of 6 months Sustained Re-engagement Activity

• Expected 90% Progression and 86% Sustainability

Community Grants

• Grant applications for organisations delivering in the East of England • Grants will be awarded to 3rd Sector organisations who assist hardest to

reach individuals move closer to employment • Priority will be given projects aimed at under-represented groups• No subcontracting• Applicant organisations must have a bank account• Applicant organisations must have an income of less than £300,000 in

the last financial year and less than 50 full time equivalent employees. • Grants of up to £12,000 available• Few programme’s left with advance payments (set-up costs)• No match funding is required

With any partner request form you will need to submit:

– Your constitution or set of rules– Financial Statements for the last 12 months– A copy of your Health & Safety policy– A copy of your Equal Opportunities policy– Evidence of appropriate insurance– Copy of your Safeguarding policy for Adults– Type of organisation – Company or charity registration number– VAT registration (if applicable)
