Preface

Based on our observations we have developed fictional UX characters for Production Support User Group. These observations are based on

contextual inquiries;

available factsheets; and

technical overview documents.

This presentation defines the following pointers pertaining to only Production Support User group.

Evan Turka Manager – Production Support

Tenure with AT&T: 9 years

Time in current role: 3 years

Evan Turka is a Production Support Manager at one of AT&Ts locations.

Evan started his tenure with AT&T as Production Support Expert nine years ago. Over the time he moved up in his career and grown as a Manager in the same team. He interacts with the business and marketing teams and gets the requests processed through support team.

His mission is to enhance the performance of existing application; make more robust by adding features that eases day-to-day tasks of their team; and increase revenue to the firm.

As a manager,

Arthur Williams Sr. Analyst – Production Support

Tenure with AT&T: 4 years


Arthur Williams is a Senior in Production Support at one of AT&Ts locations who reports to Evan Turka.

Arthur started his tenure with AT&T in a different service line and moved to this group two years ago. Over the time he gained expertize level skills in using the application and is easily managing his tasks due to his experience.

He liked the functionality of the tool and well-versed with it, however observed some gaps in the tool that he expressed to his manager. He strongly feels that these changes will add more value to the support team to perform their tasks more effectively and efficiently.

However it takes a

while for new hires to

understand the

functionality and

screens.

This tool lacks

user friendly

interface,

usability and

interactivity.

I spend lot of time to

generate a report by

exporting the data to Excel

and cleaning it up. Adding

a reporting mechanism will

save lot of my time.

Need short video clips that

gives instant help on the

sequence of steps to be

carried out on the screens you

are currently processing.

Its not competent

enough with

standard and

emerging

technologies

As I have hands-on

experience, I am able to

move quickly in processing

the requests timely.

We can improve the look

and feel of the app, so that

the user can navigate

easily to the target page

quickly

Ashley Allison Sr. Analyst – Production Support

Tenure with AT&T: 3 years 6 months


Ashley Allison is a Production Support Analyst at one of AT&Ts locations who reports to Evan Turka.

She work deals with Content management, Inventory Spaces and Product Association modules of the application. Project management, data sourcing and production support are her prime roles.

Additionally, she supports in onboarding new hires and takes care of knowledge transfer of the application. She spends at ~12-15% of her time in training needs of the new hires to be able to bring them to the speed.

As I process the task on the

application, I have no option

to log the current situation

and to access it for

reporting later. Currently

using external application

(excel) to note the pointers.

Need learning material

guidance to the new hires

instead of going through

too many documents to

understand the attributes.

This will save lot of time as

the clarifications from the

new hires are quite

repetitive. The request processing

has so multiple stages and

no summary of

transactions is available

for a new resource to

understand the situation

Lack of documentation

on the transaction

performed


When curated launch date is

unfilled, it can auto populate

the date when approving the

content. Currently we are

entering it manually.

Karthik Jayaraman Analyst – Production Support

Industry Experience: 9 years

Time in current role & AT&T: 2 months

Karthik joined the team a couple of months ago at one of AT&Ts locations who reports to Evan Turka.

He has 9 years of experience in Content and Knowledge Management areas.

His prime roles are content cleansing, adding values, sending content for approval and validation.

Though he is an experienced resource he has need to learn more and more to catch up the speed with all the features and modules of the application.

Currently he gained working knowledge on couple of modules and need hands on experience on others.

Learning tutorials and quick

reference guide will really

help while processing a

request. As there are too

many fields that are hard to

remember while configuring.

There are many fields in the

forms that are not mandatory

and we never use them.

Simplifying the fields to have

only mandatory fields will

avoid confusion and eases

the task.

There are mandatory fields

(Expiration date) that have

no validation and we have to

follow up with the requestor

manually to get these values

Content cleansing is one of the

major task I perform and we

should have a way to generate

content cleansing report that

populates all the fields as it

shows on the screen

The screen runs long

like a ribbon with that

can be simplified and

bucketed to respective

categories

We need to have a

way to integrate

reporting within the

application.

Currently it is a

separate tool.

Geof encesA Geofence is a virtual boundary around a particular location. Marketing users can define Geofences in the system and then use them to trigger events. For example, a customer entering (or nearing) a store could trigger the Geofence for that store. This could in turn trigger an Event whereby the customer is presented with an appropriate offer. Users can also reference Geofences in strategies and can harness this to determine the most relevant offer for a particular customer.
