Think of て FORM of the verb as the base form of the verb. You add certain words after the て FORM to make certain sentences.

A. て FORM + くださいーー＞ すわってください . Please sit down!

B: て FORM + います Give BREAKING NEWS This means: Say what is happening right now!A さんは B さんと つきあっています！

What general characteristics do Group 1 verbs ALL have?

• They always have an い line hiragana before the ます . NO exceptions.

• Group 2 Verb

RULE: Take out ーーます PUT in て

• How do you know the verb is a group 2 verb?

Usually have no い line hiragana in its spelling before the ます。 They will have え　 line hiragana.

How do you know it’s a WEAK VERB?

• However, there are exceptions. So, you just have to learn them.

• 見 ます 見 て look at
