What Goes Into a Science Teacher

After college I started working on my PhD in physics, but I found I did not care much for research while loving teaching. Having taught both college classes and middle school classes, I knew high school was the ideal level for me. I became a physics

teacher (that’s the science building on the left) and a coach of volleyball, fencing, and tennis.

After graduate school I continued training in ballroom dancing while teaching physics, eventually becoming the national champion in my primary discipline, American

smooth (waltz, tango, foxtrot, and Viennese waltz).

More recently I married my lovely wife and have now returned to school, focused on the education side instead of the physics side of physics education.
