What the Principal Wants to See When Visiting Your ClassThis session will lead participants to explore the new evaluation system, teacher appraisal, and how teachers can be their best. In particular, the T-Tess Appraisal System will be discussed along with other systems and how they are used to appraise teachers. Karen Cossey, Teacher Recruiter, Spring Branch Independent School District Karen Cossey serves at the teacher recruiter for Spring Branch Independent School District. She oversees recruiting and marketing efforts for highly qualified teaching personnel. She also serves as liaison between Human Resources and universities and is instrumental in organizing screening events and job fairs for the District. Her career in in Spring Branch ISD has spanned 27 years. She served as an elementary teacher before assuming her current role in 2008.

Mike Gencarelli, Director of Human Resources, Pasadena Independent School DistrictMike Gencarelli has 43 years in the education field. He has served in the intermediate and high school levels as a teacher, coach, athletic director, campus administrator, and is currently the human resources coordinator for 11 years Pasadena Independent School District. Mr. Gencarelli is a member of the HATC Committee and has previously served as president. He completed his Masters in Education Management at the University of Houston Clear Lake.

Kay Kerr, Human Resources Director, Channelview Independent School DistrictKay Kerr is an alum of UHCL with her Bachelors and Masters Degrees. She has served students as a teacher, librarian, and an administrator. Kay has been in Human Resources for the past 18 years staffing schools. She has served as a former president of the Houston Area Teacher Center (HATC).

Andrea Kuhn, Assistant Director, Human Resources, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School DistrictAndrea Kuhn is currently one of four assistant directors for professional staffing for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Her career in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD has spanned 36 years. She served as an elementary teacher and assistant principal before assuming her current role in 2007. She completed her Masters in Education Administration at the University of Houston.

Jeff McCanna, Officer of Human Capital, Houston Independent School DistrictJeff McCanna is currently in his 25th year in education. He has served as teacher, assistant principal, principal, and as director of human resources the last 12 years before assuming his current position as officer of Human Capital for the Houston Independent School District. Jeff works with several national organizations focused on teacher equity for underserved students. He is presently working on his doctoral degree in Educational Administration and Human Resources.
