Key QuestionWhat does a useful teacher evaluation system need to have from your lens?

Page 5: Teacher Evaluation Stakeholder Meetings June 2019...Teacher Evaluation Stakeholder Meetings June 2019 – Bernalillo – Albuquerque – Santa Fe – Espanola – Las Vegas – Farmington

Consistent Themes

Evaluation should be supportive and help address the needs of our culturally and linguistically diverse students, English language learners and students with

disabilities.

5

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Our challenge is to make the need for this explicit and that it needs to be included in whatever is developed going forward like the current tool does this. Recognize the work that has been done which is integrated into the current rubric, while also indicating the need for principals and teachers to be trained on culturally and linguistically responsive teaching and learning. Current rubric states: **Any reference to “all students” includes culturally and linguistically diverse students, English learners (ELs), and students with disabilities (SWD).**Any reference to New Mexico adopted standards includes the 2012 Amplification of WIDA English Language Development (ELD) Standards, when serving English language learners (ELLs) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, when serving SWD.
