STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Teachers Day was celebrated in Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School Udhampur with fervour with the lighting of lamp and Saraswati Vandna by the Principal of the School Renu Sharma. Students gave spec- tacular performances in order to show their love and grati- tude for teachers. The high- light of the day was the Lilliputian dance specially prepared by the students Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School Udhampur. There were other events like dance, songs, and games for teach- ers. They also spoke about the life of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. Meanwhile, Teachers Day was celebrated at Govt. KATHUA: The students of Kartar Public School, Barnoti celebrated the Teachers Day on Wednesday in a solemn and sober man- ner. They organised and exe- cuted a special assembly on this occasion. They recalled the services of the first Vice- President of the Republic of India, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth- day is celebrated as the Teachers' Day every year. Students presented songs and speeches to eulogize ideal teachers who inspire achiev- ers. Teachers and staff paid homage to the memory of Radhakrishnan and took a pledge to serve the student community with dedication and without discrimination. Haarpreet Kaur, Secretary- cum-Principal of the School, lit the traditional lamp and sought the blessings of the goddess of learning. She said that teaching learning process establishes a special bond between the pupil and the mentor. Therefore, teach- ers have to groom themselves well to discharge their duties sincerely. Speaking on this occasion, the Chairman of the School, Er. Nirmaljit Singh felt that teachers are the real builders of the nation. R S PURA: Government Degree College, R S Pura cel- ebrated Teachers Day under the guidance of Dr. Rajinder Singh, Staff Secretary along with members of the NCC Committee to pay a glowing tribute to Dr.S. Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary for rendering commendable services to the teaching profession. On this occasion, Prof. Kalpana Kesar, Principal GDC, R. S. Pura was the Chief Guest. To pay the tributes to Dr. RadhaKrishnan, Indira Memorial Academy, Ward no. 11, R.S.Pura celebrated the Teachers Day. Students of class 7th & 8th assumed the role of teachers for this spe- cial day and organized func- tion themselves. On the occasion, special cake was cut by the Chairman, Nitin Mahajan and Principal of the School Ekta Mahajan with all the staff and students of the school. During the function, the Chairman Nitin Mahajan and the Principal Ekta Mahajan honored Sheetal with Best Teacher 2018 Award for giving their best service to the students and the school. Army celebrated Teachers Day on the occasion of birth centenary of nation's second President, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan , who, apart from being a great leader, was also one of the most renowned and influential scholars of our country. Teachers Day was celebrat- ed in GGHSS Jakh with pomp and show. Program started with lightening of lamp and paying floral trib- utes to Dr. S Radhakrishanan by Principal Deepak Gupta and the staff of the school. Students played the role of teachers and took the reign of classes. Principal and teachers were given a warm welcome in the school by students for their special contribution to their lives. POONCH: NSS units in collaboration with Debating and Literary Activities Committees of Govt. Degree College Poonch celebrated Teachers Day. This function was organised under the supervision of Dr. Farooq Ahmed and Dr. Loveleen Kour wherein, eight students participated and presented their papers in the seminar on the topic 'Role and responsibilities of a teacher in the present era'. Mohammad Yahya got first position, Jameel Ahmed clinched second position, Nadeem Ahmed bagged third position and Sonali Sharma secured consolation prizes. Prof. Zakir Hussain, Dr. Mohammad Azam and Prof. Shaista Parveen were the members of the jury for the seminar. Principal of the col- lege Prof. Syed Mussaraf Hussain Shah presided over the function. The proceedings of pro- gramme were conducted by NSS Volunteers Kaneez Fatima Rathore, Mohd Abass and Farhat Shabeer. Prize and certificate distribu- tion session was conducted by Dr. Amjed Ali and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Aurangzeb Anjum. THANNAMANDI: Govt. Degree College Thannamandi celebrated Teachers Day with great zest and zeal. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Prof. (Dr.) Zahoor Ahmed Chhatt, Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir, while programme was presided over by Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina. Fifth Issue of Newsletter of the College 'The Shahdara' was released on the occasion by the digni- taries. Symposium on the topic '21st Century and Role of Teacher' was also held, in which Danish Bashir, Shehrish Shakoor and Khalid Mehraj bagged the first, sec- ond and third positions respectively. During the pro- gramme, Best Teacher Award was given to Dr. Arun Sharma (HOD Physics), Prof. Shaji Khan (HOD English) and Prof. Rizwan Ahmed Khan (Dept. of Physics). RAJOURI: A colorful pro- gramme was organised by the students of SVS Degree College for Women Rajouri to celebrate the Teachers Day in the institution. Seven girl stu- dents participated and spoke on the occasion on the topic of 'Role of Teachers in Building the Nation'. Prof. Haqeeqat Singh Ishar Director of the College was the Chief Guest and Dr. Shamshad Ahmed Principal was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Zahida Parveen, Prof. Ajaz Ul Haq, Prof. Suresh Sharma were the Jury of Judges. Shivangi Bhasin of 3rd sem, Rabia Kouser of 5th Sem and Sneh Sharma of 3rd sem, were adjudged first, sec- ond and third respectively. Moreover a beautiful cake was presented by the stu- dents, which is cut by Prof. Haqeeqat Singh Ishar and Staff members. Indu Sharma hold the stage and Sofia Jaral presented vote of thanks. Meanwhile, Senior BJP Leader and MLC Vibodh Gupta presided over an impressive programme organised by Government Boys High Secondary School Rajouri to mark the impor- tance of Teachers Day. Sumara Shawal, Kamalnaz Mirza, Pancham Gupta, Vivek Gupta, Ajaiz Hussain Shah were felicitated with the prestigious 'Best Service Award' for their valuable con- tribution in teaching depart- ment. Principal Mohd Farooq Lone thanked MLC for adopting the school. NOWSHERA: Teachers' Day was celebrated in all the Government and Private Schools in Nowshera and its surrounding areas on Wednesday. The Birthday of former President of India Sarvapali Dr. Radha Krishanan is being celebrated as the Teachers day in whole of the Country and the students on this day take the blessings of their teachers. The programme was organised under the super- vision of Supervisors and Health and Nutrition Mobiliser.
