DESCRIPTION

with a few

general remarks:

As we all move into a

NEW CONTEXT

for life and for

education…

Here are

some

questions

that

interest me

Page 35: Teaching digital natives - Moving to the future

© 2012 Marc Prensky

3. How can I move into the future

and still preserve the past?

1. How can I engage my students?

2. How can I instill in them a love

of music and learning?

4. How can I use technology most

effectively in my teaching?

Page 36: Teaching digital natives - Moving to the future

© 2012 Marc Prensky

5. In continuingly making things

shorter and faster and more

technology-based, Are we losing

anything of importance?

Are we gaining anything useful?

Are there tradeoffs we need to

make, and if so, how should we

make them?

Page 37: Teaching digital natives - Moving to the future

© 2012 Marc Prensky

6. What is the relationship between

music and technology?

Is technology making kids better

musicians? Can it?

Is there such a thing as

“Musical Digital Wisdom”?

Page 38: Teaching digital natives - Moving to the future

Interesting pics

Here are the

BIG IDEAS

I want to

discuss today:

Page 39: Teaching digital natives - Moving to the future

1. ADAPT TO A CHANGING CONTEXT

2. LISTEN TO THE KIDS

3. CHANGE PEDAGOGY

4. USE TECHNOLOGY WISELY

5. TEACH THE RIGHT STUFF

NOT REALLY

Page 61: Teaching digital natives - Moving to the future

And that means finding

BALANCE

is to balance ‘the old’ & ‘the new’

What are the key

verbs (skills)

we want our students

to learn, practice and

master?

We must ask:

Page 82: Teaching digital natives - Moving to the future

© 2012 Marc Prensky

“Am I using the

appropriate / best /

latest nouns

for the verbs (skills)

I am teaching?”

We must ask:
