Teacher should acts as an:

Teacher-centered

When considering their approach to instruction, teachers are always looking for the method that is most beneficial for allstudents. Teachers want their students to enjoy the learningprocess, and they want the classroom to be orderly and controlled

As a result, the debate of teacher-centered vs. student-centerededucation has been in the forefront of educators’ minds for manyyears

Though many peoplehave a specific ideaof which type of education is best, there are both advantages anddisadvantages to each approach

In teacher-centered education, students put all of their focus onteacher. The teacher talks, while the students exclusively listen

During activities, studentswork alone, and collaborationis discouraged

Teacher-centered instruction

When educationis teacher-centered, the classroom remains orderlyStudents arequite, and theteacher retainsfull control ofthe classroomand its activities

Because students learn on their own, they learn to beindependent and make their own decisions

Because the teacher directs all classroom activities, they don’thave to worry that students will miss an important topic

When students work alone, they don’t learn to collaborate with other students, and communicationmay suffer

Teacher-centered instruction can get boring for students. Theirminds may wander, and they may miss important facts

Teacher-centered instruction doesn’t allow students to expressthemselves, ask questions and direct their own learning

Student-centered Instruction

When a classroom operates with student-centered instruction, students and instructors share the focus. Instead of listening tothe teacher exclusively, students and teacher interact equally.

Group work is encouraged, and students learn to collaborate and communicate with one other

Student-centered Instruction

Students learn important communicative and collaborative skills through group work

Students learn to direct their own learning, ask questions and complete tasks independently

Students are moreinterested in learningactivities when theycan interact with oneanother and participate actively

Because students are talking, classrooms are often busy, noisy and chaotic

Teachers must attempt to manage all students’ activities at once, which can be difficult when students are working on different stages of the same project

Because the teacher doesn’t deliver instruction to all students at once, some studentsmay miss important facts.

Some students prefer towork alone, so group work can become problematic

Decision making

In recent years, more teachers have moved toward a student-centered approach

However, some students maintain that teacher-centered education is the more effective strategy

In most cases, it is best for teachers to use a combination of approaches to ensure that all studentneeds are met. When both approaches are used togetherstudents can enjoy the positives of both types ofeducation

Instead of getting bored with teacher-centered education or losing sight of their goals in as completely student-centeredclassroom, pupils can benefit from a well-balanced educationalatmosphere

Butremember…….

Any approachyou may adoptbut you haveto produce“Leaders” insteadof simple “Educators”,because thetraditionaleducators can'tfulfill the need.

One’s knowledge is useless if he/she can’t communicate effectively, so produce good communicators instead of knowledgebanks.

We are living in a global village; thus the imperative is to produce the collaborative and cooperative individuals instead of narrow minded scholars.

Great opportunities are for those who are passionate about it.So, produce the passionate personals instead of only skilledlabour.

Nowadays, information is available and accessible toanyone, anytime and anywhere. Thus don’t waste yourtime in only imparting information to students butequip them with analytical approach
