How do you do Chautauqua?
• Chautauqua is a theatrical transformation of time,
• It is grounded in careful scholarship and a disciplined format,
• It magically transports you into the past.
• You can engage in discussion with a person living in that time.

The Idea!
• How can we make history and biography come alive for students!
• How can we integrate English, History, Communications and even Technology skills?
• What about Academic Standards? How do we assess this?
• Can we use “Chautauqua” as a teaching and learning model for students?

History Day
The performance category can be on of the most exciting ways to participate in History Day, because it is the only category in which students present their research live.
Entries in this category must have dramatic appeal, but not at the expense ofhistorical information. Creativity is the key here, and students must make effective use of their 10-minute time allowance.
