TEACHING WITH TECHNOLOGY IN TODAY’S

GENERATION

Teaching with technology in today's curriculum don’t need to utilize the latest tools, it's about knowing what are the best tools to successfully

conduct a discussion to your students that makes them learn in easier way and motivates them to learn fast. Technology in education is just an

additional opportunity to achieve education, if you have not enough time or opportunities to do it in another way.

There is a vast change of technology from the old times when we used different kinds of big machines to communicate to people all over the

world and do things that entails much longer time to accomplish the work while nowadays, we have all the gadgets and technologies such as

computers with just one click, we will get all the information that we need. Using technology in our everyday lives is very convenient and efficient because we don't have to go to the library to search a particular book

which takes time. But we should employ technology in a good way for the benefit of oneself and of the others. We must not use it to violate the rights of other people but apply it to make our lives easier and more

comfortable.

provides opportunities for more learner-centered instruction;

permits instruction to be contextualized; allows students to explore, make mistakes, and

learn from their errors; leads to more active and interactive modes of

instruction; and results naturally in greater collaboration,

cooperation, and small group work

Integrating Internet-based Technology into Teaching/Learning

Reasons for using technology in education:

How Technology Can Affect Some Teachers?

Teachers may lack confidence when using computers or programs they have no experience with.

Teachers can build on their skill and teaching repertoire with staff development and technology training.

Teachers will gain confidence and effectiveness in instruction with increased computer experience.

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY IN MATH EDUCATION

Technology can allow for a shift to a paperless classroom, which can make the teacher's job more efficient and organized. With a paperless format for grading and tracking assignments, teachers transport less student work to and from home and can access grades from multiple locations.

Technology, specifically the Internet, gives students instant access to research databases from a variety of sources, including news sources, university databases and instructional videos. Beginning at the youngest levels of education, students can take a more active role in their own learning using technology. Games can provide children with practice in learning shapes, the alphabet and math skills, for example.

Calculators, computer software tools, and other technologies assist in the collection, recording, organization, and analysis of data. They also enhance computational power and provide convenient, accurate, and dynamic drawing, graphing, and computational tools. With such devices, students can extend the range and quality of their mathematical investigations and encounter mathematical ideas in more realistic settings.

ADVANTAGES OF TECHNOLOGY IN MATH EDUCATION

One disadvantage for teachers at all levels of education is trying to keep up with changing technologies and learning how to use both hardware and software for educational purposes. Additionally, teachers must learn how to ensure that students are learning skills rather than simply learning how to efficiently use technology. For example, using a graphing calculator in a geometry class may make it easier for students to find angle measures without understanding properties of a triangle. Teachers can also find the amount of student communication via email overwhelming if they have increased numbers of students.

Discrepancies in computer skills may make assignments more difficult to complete for some students. Computer malfunctions can cause them to lose assignments or materials. In the case of online courses taken from home, varying Internet speeds and devices available to students at home may cause some students difficulty. Additionally, acquiring information in an online course relies largely on student motivation and self-monitoring, which may be difficult for some students.

Other disadvantages include the danger of time spent off task distracted by social media and websites, or lack of motivation to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Technology influences Teaching

Using technology to enhance teaching and learning practices in the classroom is becoming common place. Students constantly interact with technologies such as ipods, mobile phones, the internet and social networking tools outside the classroom and have an expectation that these technologies will also support their learning in the classroom.

Power Point :

1.Be Simple or simplify difficult material

2. Use it as a supplement, NOT the entire presentation

3. Focus on Learning, NOT Technology

BASIC RULES of USEAGE Humans see graphics first, then text

Keep information in a logical flow

6 points or Less per slide/page

Use large type Consistently – Minimum 24 point

Technology Integration

The goal of technology integration is to use technology seamlessly in the classroom so that the technology itself is invisible in support of learning a standards based curriculum.

Employing technology provides a variety of new ways to learn, and in the process, fosters independent thinking, problem solving, and collaborative learning.
