Teachscape Learn Teachscape Learn is a video-rich professional learning system that helps teachers and administrators reflect on practice, collaborate with colleagues, and build relevant skills. The Common Core Series The Common Core Series content library focuses on the implementation of the Common Core State Standards. These 23 courses feature over 24 hours of instruction, and are applicable to grades K-12. Increasing Text Complexity This course describes the emphasis placed on text complexity by the authors of the Common Core State Standards. It provides information about where to look in the standards documentation for guidance on appropriate text complexity and examines the rationale and research behind this shift. Integrating Literacy in the Disciplines

This course examines the expectation that literacy instruction be embedded in content-area instruction, such as history/social studies, science, and technical subjects, based on the Common Core State Standards, which present literacy as a shared responsibility of teachers in all disciplines, not the sole responsibility of ELA teachers.


Prioritizing Text-Based Evidence

Close reading and the use of text-based evidence are central features of the Common Core State Standards for ELA & Literacy. Across grades K-12, the standards require students to read and reread grade-level texts, citing text-based evidence when discussing, analyzing, and interpreting its meaning. This course looks at interpretations and definitions of these critical components of the standards,

Throughout the reading, students are supported by scaffolding to read deeply and cite text-based evidence in order to explain character motivations and plot elements as well as learn and apply academic vocabulary.
