Report
1. Introduction
Kudumbashree State Mission
and NULM organized two day
combined workshop for the
CDS, NULM and PMAY from
each Urban Local Body.
Chairpersons and Member
Secretaries of CDS and core
team of NULM and PMAY from
each ULB attended the
programme. The workshop was organized at Maria Rani Training Centre, Sreekariyam, Thiruvananthapuram.
2. About the workshop
Overall objective of the
workshop was to bring
together all the key
programmes rolled in
under Kudumbashree in
Urban Setting and
workout a road map for
working together.
Specific objectives of the
programme are:
To increase awareness about NULM and PMAY programmes and its components so as to better position the programme before each other
To create an avenue for coming together and working together
through innovative team building exercises
To introduce the provisions for networking within the programme components, under NULM, PMAY and CDS
To create an understanding about team building and team-working, do’s
and don’ts in working together etc. To introduce the concept of stakeholder management
To help the participants to understand different personality types and working with them
To further motivate the team members to create bigger impact in the society
Methodology
The programme adopted
participatory workshop /
training methods like group
games, group discussions,
presentations, role-plays,
theatre and a variety of other
innovative training techniques
with appropriate input
sessions wherever required.
Facilitators
The sessions were facilitated by The Blue Point Org Team and NULM State Team.
Shri. Harikishore IAS, Executive Director and Shri. Binu Francis, Programme Officer
(Urban) also addressed the participants.
3. Sessions – At a Glance
Day – 1
3. 1 Introduction to the programme and icebreaking
The programme started with an
Ice - breaking session. The
participants were put into pairs
and asked them to introduce their
friend before the participants
were asked to identify the
similarities and differences at
personal level. The session ended
with eliciting expectations about
the programme and by setting basic ground rules.
3.2 Introduction to Teamwork and Leadership in NULM structure
The second session was on teamwork and basics of leadership for building and maintaining effective teams at local body level. The session started with a presentation on big picture of Kudumbashree. The session also explored the
elements that bind the participants together and that keep each programme different. The participants identified the logo, vision and mission of Kudumbashree that put the team together and the programme components, targets and coordination system make them different. The session started with keeping this as the background for networking each other for creating better impact in the society.
3.3 Building Effective Teams
The session started
with a group activity –
presenting a skit
based on the
peculiarities of the
month given
connecting the
themes that are
currently addressed
by Kudumbashree in
the field. After the
group performances, the essential components of teamwork were introduced. In
order to further clarify the components, a group game – The Elephant and the
Queen was introduced.
3.4 NULM & PMAY: Plan for the year 2018-‘19
The group members from
each CDS / NULM/ PMAY
units were asked to make
a presentation of their
plan for the year 2018-’19.
The possibilities to work
together or support each
other were explored after
the presentation.
The session on day -1 ended with a Cultural event organised by the participants.
Day - 2
The sessions on day – 2 was started with recap of the previous day sessions.
3.5 Understanding different personality types & work with them
In order to improve
personal effectiveness of
the participants, a session
on ‘Understanding different
personality types and work
with them’ was introduced.
The participants had done a
self-assessment using a
psycho-metric test. Based
on the scores, they were divided into 4 categories of personalities – The Socialiser,
The Thinker, The Relator and The Director. Specific characteristics of each personality
were explained in the session. How to work with each category of personalities was
also explained.
3.6 Log-frame: Presentation and discussion
The Log-Frame of NULM, CDS and PMAY was discussed in detail to clarify the doubts if any. This is done to create collective ownership of the activities.
The session concluded with introducing the concept of stakeholder analysis and management.
3.7 Improving Organisational Effectiveness – The Way Forward
The session on ‘the way
forward’ was facilitated
by the Shri. Harikoshore
IAS, Executive Director,
Kudumbashree. The
deliberations focus on
the need for creating a
bigger impact in the
society, siting the pilot
interventions across the
State.
3.8 Winding up / Feedback
There is a formal feedback session in which written feedbacks from the participants
were collected. The participants also rate the sessions, methodology and the
resource team. Representative of participants also gave an oral feedback on the
workshop.

5. Feedback from participants
The participants gave a written feedback about the programme based on the
questionnaire given. Consolidation of the ratings given (out of total mark – 10) for the

6. Suggestions and recommendations
A mechanism may put in place for sharing the progress of the programme on a
bimonthly or quarterly basis at ULB level. CDS, NULM and PMAY may meet
together and present their updates, seek support from other players
The Managers may visit the CDS offices at least on fortnightly basis and meet the Chairperson and the team
The Community Organisers may be given a detailed orientation programme, with
immediate effect.
The CDS chairpersons may be given a detailed orientation programme on NULM, PMAY and other Kudumbashree programmes.
