  • Team D Scripture Study Songs of PraiseYou have lifted me up (Psalm 29:1, 2, 4, 11, 12 Septuagint)

    You have lifted me up

And not caused mine enemies to rejoice over me

I will exalt thee, O YAHUAH

    O YAHUAH my Elohim

I cried to thee, and you healed me (2X)

Sing to YAHUAH, you his saints

For the remembrance of his Holiness

    Give thanks, Give thanks

You have turned my mourning into joy for me

    You’ve torn of my sackcloth

    And with gladness girded me

    That my glory

    May sing praise to thee

And I may not be - Pierced with sorrow

    O YAHUAH my Elohim

I will give thanks to thee (2x)

    Forever

For what have I in heaven but You?

  • IntroductionA wife for my Beloved son

Abraham’s trusted servant made it to the City of Nachor safely, with the angel/messenger of YHWH arriving before him. At the well, likely at an accessible location in the city, he has positioned himself to observe the damsels at their water work. Waiting to see if his prayer is answered to the Cepher, he carefully observes one damsel, who offered him water to drink, and extend the courtesy to the ten camels in his caravan. A task that would take a while, and gives the damsel time to look over the payload that was hauled over the arid land. Items that should catch the eyes of a damsel. We continue with the servant of Abraham standing at the well waiting to proceed with the mission. Some topics from the last study are revisited in this study as much of the activities being related is a recap.

(Gen 24: 30 Koren Pub) 30And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands,

and when he heard the words of Rivqa his sister, saying, Thus spoke the man to me; that he came to the man; and,

behold, he stood by the camels at the well. (MT)

(Gen 24: 30 Brenton) 30And it came to pass when he saw the ear-rings and the bracelets on the hands of his

sister, and when he heard the words of Rebecca his sister, saying, Thus the man spoke to me, that he went to the

man, as he stood by the camels at the well. (LXX)

  • MezmerisedMy sister’s bling

A little over the top for the title of this section. The bling on Rebecca had to be very impressive to cause her brother Laban to go enquire of the stranger. Laban most likely had a senior role in his father’s wife's house and maybe the oldest male of the household giving him an elevated position in the family. Then, from his sister’s report and the evidence of it on her person, its good cause for him to make the trip out to the well.

The servant of Abraham is standing diligently next to the camels, maybe in a protective posture with the helpers accompanying him, ensuring that the sample of the wealth of his master is not illegally procured by others. Once Rebecca’s brother shows up, the bling that he saw along with the goods on the camel should make a convincing argument on its own to transition his sister into the bride for Isaac:

    Jewels in the ancient world

Jewels are beautiful. We value them for their color and sparkle. But they are also* portable wealth.* an in-your-face status symbol, letting everyone know how rich you are.

That is why young women in the ancient world of the Bible draped themselves in their dowry jewelry on their wedding day. In a not-very-subtle way they were telling their new husband and his family that they were women of substance, not to be lightly treated.

(Gen 24: 31 - 33 Brenton) 31And he said to him, Come in hither, thou blessed of the Lord, why standest thou without, whereas I have prepared the house and a place for the camels? 32And the man entered into the house, and unloaded the camels, and gave the camels straw and provender, and water to wash his feet, and the feet of the men that were with him. 33And he set before them loaves to eat; but he said, I will not eat, until I have told my errand. Look man. Why yuh standing outhere? Come in nah?Though not the exact words, Laban is inviting Abraham’ servants and his support into the house of his mother. He, Abraham’s servant, is referred to as being ‘Blessed of YHWH’ which gives recognition to the Elohim of his master. YHWH would be known to the entire household of Terah. His son, daughter and grandson left his authority to go after ‘this’ good which he, Terah, chose not to pursue.

Laban is now doing the heavy lifting by offloading the camels after inviting the men into his mother’s home. This would give him time to assess everything loaded unto the ten camels. He also offers them water to wash their feet (Bereshit/Genesis Chapter 18 Part A – In the heat of the day) and then presented food for them to eat. With Laban probably being the main man of the home, these men are under his protection (Bereshit/Genesis Chapter 19 Part A – Punishment on the Horizon).

Before the men can partake of the nourishing meal, Abraham’s servant wants to get the business matter out of the way and to make things formal with the damsel for Isaac ‘to wife’.

  • Bereshit/Genesis 24: 34 - 38

(Gen 24: 34 - 38 Koren Pub) 34And he said, I am Avraham's servant. 35And the Lord has blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and He has given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses. 36And Sara my master's wife bore a son to my master when she was old: and to him he has given all that he has. 37And my master made me swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Kena῾ani, in whose land I dwell: 38but thou shalt go to my father's house, and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son. (MT)

(Gen 24: 34 - 38 Brenton) 34And he said, I am a servant of Abraam; 35and the Lord has blessed my master greatly, and he is exalted, and he has given him sheep, and calves, and silver, and gold, servants and servant-maids, camels, and asses. 36And Sarrha my master's wife bore one son to my master after he had grown old; and he gave him whatever he had. 37And my master caused me to swear, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Chananites, among whom I sojourn in their land. 38But thou shalt go to the house of my father, and to my tribe, and thou shalt take thence a wife for my son. In support of his words about his master’s substance and status, the bling which Rebecca is wearing and the goods offloaded by Laban and seen by his sister prior, validates every word that the servant is saying about Abraham his master. Seeing is believing. It would be difficult for anyone to ‘flex’ in times compared to our current society.

He relates the trials of both Abraham and Sarah in obtaining favour of a son. Now he is at their doorstep hoping that Rebecca would become his masters beloved son’s wife. To sweeten the prospects of the union, he mentions that the vast majority of his father’s substance would be bequeathed to him. This is more than enough assurance that she would be well taken care of with no lack. Love is another question. He reinforces to his audience that his master did not want his son to get entangled with any Chananite women. Abraham was being very tribal in his selection choice for his son:

    – mishpâchâh/“clan, family”( ִת ִּ֑ חְׁ פַּ י·ִמשְׁ )4940

    – môledeth/“kindred, birth, offspring, relatives”( ִת ִּ֑ דְׁ י·מֹולַּ )4138 (used in verse 4 & 7 for kindred/family)

In looking up both Hebrew words, a controversy was stumbled upon regarding the servant’s retelling:

A Wife for Isaac: From Abraham's Hometown or Family?Prof. Rabbi Marty Lockshin

Abraham’s servant says that his master told him to take a wife for Isaac from his family, but Abraham said no such thing. Why does the servant say this and why did medieval pashtanim ignore this blatant discrepancy? repeated stories are common in the Bible.

  • DetailsStating the facts of the matter

Continuing…The narrator describes an event and then one of the characters in the story retells it. The most elaborate twice-told tale of the Hebrew Bible is the story of the finding of Rebekah in Parashat Chaye Sarah. In this story, Abraham sends his servant back to Mesopotamia to find a wife for his son, Isaac. The biblical narrator tells the story, and later we hear the story again from the servant’s point of view once he sits down with the potential bride’s family.

The general outline of the story does not change between the telling and the retelling. Nevertheless, Nechama Leibowitz (1905-1997), the masterful Israeli Bible teacher, succeeded in identifying twenty significant differences between the original narration and the retelling.

Changing “My Home Town” to “My Family’s Home”

Arguably, the most significant is that in the original narration, Abraham instructs his servant to go to ארצי ומולדתי , generally understood as “my land, my native land.” But when the servant retells the story, he says that Abraham had told him to go אל בית אבי ולמשפחתי , to “my father’s house, to my family.”

Interestingly, the same Greek, ‘phulē/foo-lay' (φυλή)G5443, word is applied in each instance. Then the question that should be asked is, “Why look into something so mundane as the meaning of family and usage?”

Answer: The expectation, from the LXX, was to encounter the word ethnos(ἔθνος)G1484, which gives us the English word ethnicity and connecting it to Matthew 24. Many countries are no longer ethnocentric hence they not being considered a ‘nation’ based on scriptural classification. They should be considered a kingdom or republic. With forced and unforced migration patterns, peoples are now ‘intermixed’ on ethnic, cultural and religious ideologies. The current geo-political objective is to complete the building of Babeland to get people, of the nations, to think and act as ‘ONE’ under the banner of a common language, culture and ‘Worship’. It can be understood why Abraham’s choice of his family, to obtain a wife for his beloved son, was necessary. Whether to prevent his’s sons heart from being led astray, keeping his bloodline pure or to avoid ideological conflicts are all possibilities. The people of the land of his sojourning had different values, and as such different expectations. Intermarrying in his family is not a foreign concept and he is not afraid to continue the custom with divine sanctioning at this moment.

  • DetailsStating the facts of the matter

The servant is determined to see his task through relating that he swore an oath to his master. As previously discussed, taking a false oath is a serious matter:

    – (Jer 7:8-10 Brenton) 8But whereas ye have trusted in lying words, whereby ye shall not be profited; 9and

ye murder, and commit adultery, and steal, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and are gone after

strange gods whom ye know not, 10so that it is evil with you; yet have ye come, and stood before me in the

house, whereon my name is called, and ye have said, We have refrained from doing all these abominations.

In many systems of legal adjudication, primarily those ‘Nations’ that ascribe to a form of Judeo/Christian principles, swearing on the bible is a way of making a witness commit to tell the truth. Unknowingly, people are putting themselves in harm by swearing and not being forthright about giving truthful ‘testimony’. As much as YHWH is full of grace and mercy, ignorance is not a strong defence. As stated in the last study:

    – (Mat 5:33-37 KJV) 33Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: 34But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: 35Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. 36Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. 37But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

If you were to find yourself in a court of law, it is better to Affirm, than to Swear to tell the truth. Not that you plan on being deceitful, but the implications are great when you swear and you fall short of the righteousness standard expected by our Elohim, YHWH.

If the woman does not follow, then you are absolved. The servant is under a curse which is a serious matter. If he does not carry out the instruction there are consequences. YHWH Elohim cursed the ground from with ‘The Man’ was taken from, making his labour a great deal:

    – (Gen 3: 17 Koren (v18 LXX)) 17And to the man He said, Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy

wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the

    ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

We are not referring to immodest language in the F# and C# variety. Using immodest language is not a sin, but cultural norms dictate decorum in language parlay. In the period of the judges over Israel, a curse was pronounced over the first king of the people:

    – (Jdg 9:16-20, 55-57 Brenton) 16And now, if ye have done it in truth and integrity, and have made

Abimelech king, and if ye have wrought well with Jerobaal, and with his house, and if ye have done to him

according to the reward of his hand, 17as my father fought for you, and put his life in jeopardy, and delivered

you out of the hand of Madiam; 18and ye are risen up this day against the house of my father, and have slain

his sons, being seventy men, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech the son of his bondwoman king over

the men of Sicima, because he is your brother: 19if then ye have done truly and faithfully with Jerobaal, and

with his house this day, rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice over you: 20but if not, let fire come

out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Sicima, and the house of Bethmaalo; and let fire come out from

the men of Sicima and from the house of Bethmaalo, and devour Abimelech. …55And the men of Israel saw

that Abimelech was dead; and they went each to his place. 56So God requited the wickedness of Abimelech,

which he wrought against his father, in slaying his seventy brethren. 57And all the wickedness of the men of

Sychem God requited upon their head; and the curse of Joatham the son of Jerobaal came upon them.

But the Angel of YHWH was with him giving the needed support to make his way successful.

In part one of this study, after Abraham’s servant saw that his path was successful he ‘blessed’ YHWH, and ‘Worshiped’ or ‘Prostrated’ himself:

    – “Worship/Prostrate/Shaw-khaw‘’ ( חּו·וִַּּ֑ תַּ ִישְׁ )7812

    – a primitive root; to depress, i.e. prostrate (especially reflexive, in homage to royalty or God):--bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat), humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship.

An often confused action is worship, and what it truly means to many who ascribe to the testimony of the scriptures. Song, dance and speaking in tongues tend to be associated with worship:

Christian worshipAn introduction to the different forms of Christian worship and its origins in Jewish worshipBBC 2009

Christian worship involves praising God in music and speech, readings from scripture, prayers of various sorts, a sermon, and various holy ceremonies (often called sacraments) such as the Eucharist. While worship is often thought of only as services in which Christians come together in a group, individual Christians can worship God on their own, and in any place.

OriginsChristian worship grew out of Jewish worship. Jesus Christ was a religious Jew who attended the synagogue and celebrated Jewish festivals, and his disciples were familiar with Jewish ritual and tradition. The first obvious divergence from Judaism was making Sunday the holy day instead of Saturday. By doing this the day of Christian worship is the same as the day that Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus's promise to stay with his followers, fulfilled in the sending of the Holy Spirit, illuminated the development of Christian worship from early times.

All about God: Christian WorshipChristian Worship - More Than MusicChristian worship is often thought of as the music portion of a church service - people singing songs to God, heads back, eyes closed, and hands raised in the air as they sing. Christian worship happens when we sing to God, whether in church or alone - in our cars or in the shower. If our desire is to please the heart of God, it is worship, no matter where the location or how many are involved.

Music affects our emotions and the lyrics can swell our hearts, causing us to become lost in the experience. Christian praiseand worship music is a great tool for helping us feel closer to God. It's not uncommon for people to even pick a church because of the style of its worship music. Often people will emerge from a service saying, "The worship was wonderful today," or "The sermon was great, but I was really moved by the worship."

You may be surprised to realize that the entire service is about worshipping God!

The two reference, plus many others that could have been included, is to show what is commonly thought of as Worship from a Christian perspective. From a Hebrew understanding, worship is quite different:

    WorshipBy Jeff A. BennerWebster’s Dictionary defines "worship" as;

    1. The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object.

    2. The ceremonies, prayers, or other religious forms by which this love is expressed.

WorshipBy Jeff A. BennerAs I have stated many times, but is worth repeating, when we read the Bible we must define our words from a Hebraic perspective and not from an English one. Unfortunately, when we see the word "worship" in the Bible we automatically assume the above definition causing miss-interpretation of the Biblical text. If I asked the average believer, "Is it okay to worship a man?" The answer would be, "Absolutely not, we are only to worship God." Below are a few verses that use the word "worship" and support this view.

    – Genesis 24:26 And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the LORD.

    – 1 Samuel 15:31 So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.

    – Psalm 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

The first question we must ask is, "What is the Hebrew word behind the English word ‘worship’ and what does it mean?" In each of the verses above the Hebrew word behind the English word "worship" is שחה) Sh.Hh.H, Strong's #7812) . This Hebrew word appears 172 times in the Biblical text, but is only translated as "worship" 99 times in the KJV. Below are some other translations of this same Hebrew word.

    – Gen 27:29 Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee

In this passage other nations will bow down to the descendants of Jacob.

    – Exo 18:7 And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of [their] welfare; and they came into the tent.

In this passage Moses bowed down to his father-in-law.

    – 1 Kings 1:53 So king Solomon sent, and they brought [Adonijah] down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to king Solomon: and Solomon said unto him, Go to thine house.

WorshipBy Jeff A. BennerIn this passage Adonijah was found righteous when he bowed down to Solomon.

Whenever the Hebrew word שחה) Sh.Hh.H, Strong's #7812) is used as an action toward God, the translators translate this word as "worship". However, when this same Hebrew word is used as an action toward another man, the translators translate this word as "obeisance," "bowed" or "bow down". As you can see, the translators are preventing the reader from viewing the text in its proper Hebraic context.

    Examples of Worship:

    Joshua worship a Messenger (Angel)

    – (Jos 5:13-16 Brenton) 13And it came to pass when Joshua was in Jericho, that he looked up with his eyes and

saw a man standing before him, and there was a drawn sword in his hand; and Joshua drew near and said to him,

Art thou for us or on the side of our enemies? 14And he said to him, I am now come, the chief captain of the host

of the Lord. 15And Joshua fell on his face upon the earth, and said to him, Lord, what commandest thou thy

servant? 16And the captain of the Lord's host said to Joshua, Loose thy shoe off thy feet, for the place whereon

    thou now standest is holy.

Naaman lamented about worshiping another god

    – (2Ki 5:17-19 Brenton) 17And Naiman said, Well then, if not, let there be given to thy servant, I pray thee, the

load of a yoke of mules; and thou shalt give me of the red earth: for henceforth thy servant will not offer whole-

burnt-offering or sacrifice to other gods, but only to the Lord by reason of this thing. 18And l let the Lord be

propitious to thy servant when my master goes into the house of Remman to worship there, and he shall lean on

my hand, and I shall bow down in the house of Remman when he bows down in the house of Remman; even

let the Lord, I pray, be merciful to thy servant in this matter. 19And Elisaie said to Naiman, Go in peace. And he

The disciples worship the Anointed One

    – (Mat 14:25-33 KJV) 25And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 32And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. 33Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

The same Greek word, proskuneō/pros-koo-neh'-o (προσκυνέω)G4352,is used in Gen 24 v26 as in Mat 14 v33. In the MT, the word prostrate is used instead of worship as in the LXX. Easing ahead, one of the instructions to Israel was not to worship other gods and images:

    – (Exo 20:3-6 Brenton) 3Thou shalt have no other gods beside me. 4Thou shalt not make to thyself an idol, nor likeness of anything, whatever things are in the heaven above, and whatever are in the earth beneath, and whatever are in the waters under the earth. 5Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor serve them; for I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, recompensing the sins of the fathers upon the children, to the third and fourth generation to them that hate me, 6and bestowing mercy on them that love me to thousands of them, and on them that keep my commandments.

    – (Luk 4:5-8 KJV) 5And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

    – (Deu 6:13 Brenton) 13Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve; and thou shalt cleave to him, and by his name thou shalt swear.

    – (Mat 8:2-4 KJV) 2And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Israel did not heed his commands or warnings and have constantly replaced him with everything else:– (Exo 32:1-5 Brenton) 1And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from

the mountain, the people combined against Aaron, and said to him, Arise and make us gods who shall go before us; for this Moses, the man who brought us forth out of the land of Egypt--we do not know what is become of him. 2And Aaron says to them, Take off the golden ear-rings which are in the ears of your wives and daughters, and bring them to me. 3And all the people took off the golden ear-rings that were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. 4And he received them at their hands, and formed them with a graving tool; and he made them a molten calf, and said, These are thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 5And Aaron having seen it built an altar before it, and Aaron made proclamation saying, To-morrow is a feast of the Lord.

After the Sinai experience, they quickly devolved and did what was unsanctioned. As well, they made images and worshiped other gods:– (Jdg 17:1-4 Brenton) 1And there was a man of mount Ephraim, and his name was Michaias. 2And he said to his mother, The eleven hundred

pieces of silver which thou tookest of thyself, and about which thou cursedst me, and spokest in my ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it: and his mother said, Blessed be my son of the Lord. 3And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I had wholly consecrated the money to the Lord out of my hand for my son, to make a graven and a molten image, and now I will restore it to thee. 4But he returned the silver to his mother, and his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave them to a silversmith, and he made it a graven and a molten image; and it was in the house of Michaias.

    – (Jer 7:13-18 Brenton) 13And now, because ye have done all these deeds, and I spoke to you, but ye hearkened not to me; and I called you, but ye answered not; 14therefore I also will do to the house whereon my name is called, wherein ye trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Selo. 15And I will cast you out of my sight, as I cast away your brethren, all the seed of Ephraim. 16Therefore pray not thou for this people, and intercede not for them to be pitied, yea, pray not, and approach me not for them: for I will not hearken unto thee. 17Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18Their children gather wood, and their fathers kindle a fire, and their women knead dough, to make cakes to the host (MT Queen) of heaven; and they have poured out drink-offerings to strange gods, that they might provoke me to anger.

The same goes for the current believers in him and the modern day denominational fellowships that have attached themselves to the scriptures. Nothing has changed since the events of the first Exodus to this moment. We have been doing like the heathens and following THEIR practices in honoring the One True Elohim.

If the incorrect understanding is conveyed, then your error of knowledge becomes compounded over time. Our heart should be to worship in Spirit and Truth:

    • (Joh 4:22-24 KJV) 22Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such toworship him. 24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

What does this spirit of worship look like?:

God is Spirit – Bible.orgGod is spirit. There is no article in the Greek text before the word spirit, and that emphasizes the quality or essence of the word. Furthermore, the word spirit occurs first in the sentence for emphasis. The literal idea would be something like, “Absolutely spirit in His essence is God.” Jesus did not leave any doubt about this truth. God is spirit! But what does that mean? Some have a strange idea about what a spirit is. That is particularly true of children. To them spirits mean ghosts. When two of my sons were small we overhead them talking about ghosts. The five-year-old said, “Did you know that God is a ghost? He’s the Holy Ghost.” His four-year-old brother answered with great theological insight, “Yes, but he’s like Casper, the friendly ghost” (a popular television cartoon character of the day). Is that really what it means for God to be spirit? Let us examine what it does mean, as well as how it applies to our lives.

    He Is a Living Person

We can know HimIt is quite obvious that a spirit is alive. Our God is not an inanimate object, like a pagan idol with a mouth that cannot speak, eyes that cannot see, ears that cannot hear, and hands that cannot accomplish anything (cf. Psalm 115:4-7). He is alive. The very word spirit also means “breath,” and breath is the evidence of life. Throughout Scripture He is called the living God (e.g. Joshua 3:10; Psalm 84:2; 1 Thessalonians 1:9).

One of the reasons the first slide of our study begins with “Songs of Praise to Yah” is because of the distinction between praise and worship. So then, how should true worship be perceived in light of what it truly is and what The Anointed One said to the woman at the well? As discussed in the Bible.org excerpt, let your actions of humbling yourself be accompanied with words of exhortation from your breath and the spirit is also breath. In our current circumstances, we should submit ‘humbly’ to His, YHWH's authority over our lives and let our worship be endearment of honour towards YHWH Elohim and those who are in his service in a position of power. Additionally, in our daily walk, have a heart filled with praise even when the conditions are more than what is bearable. When we bow, our conscience should be clear of any ill will towards others, and expunging all the symbols of religion, that have been adopted. They should be cast out of our lives. Your ‘worship’ can be a combination of bowing and words/songs of praise to our Holy Creator.

Webster Universal Dictionary, Unabridged International Edition Color Illustrated, Harver Publishing Inc. 1968 (p. 342)

If these definitions presented are genuine, then everyone and their ‘holy relics’ belongs to a cult. Currently, people in various religious denominations, who are seeking to understand the scriptures better and challenging the status quo, are accused of being in cults, or cult like behaviour, as they choose to gain a more informed understanding and interact with like-minded people. Being accused of being in a cult is more to protect doctrines than getting to the truth.

  • She AppearedThe wife to be

Abraham’s servant knew that he was prospered by the YHWH Elohim. Based on all the actions that transpired a marriage was arranged for Isaac:

Rebekah: A Marriage in Ancient Israel

The old man had two gold bracelets and a ring, gifts for a woman he didn’t know. Camels accompanied him with food and gear for the journey and with many gifts. These were intended for people living somewhere in Haran where Terah had settled. Abraham insisted that his son marry someone from his own people and not a Canaanite woman. That’s why he sent his trusted servant to find a wife from Terah’s family (Gen. 22:20-24). Abraham believed the servant would find a bride in Haran because God “will send His angel with you and prosper your way” (Gen. 24:40). So, the old gentleman was on a mission of faith—Abraham’s faith.

Eliezer knew she was the answer to prayer. God had divinely singled out Rebekah as the young woman intended for Isaac. So he “put the nose ring on her nose and the bracelets on her wrists…and worshipped the LORD” (Gen. 24:47-48). In bestowing the jewelry, Eliezer claimed Rebekah for Isaac. In accepting the jewelry, she allowed Eliezer to touch her wrists and face—she was willing to proceed. She “ran and told her mother’s household these things” (Gen. 24:28). Rebekah’s appearing before them wearing bracelets and nose ring opened the way for Eliezer to meet her family and propose marriage.

(Dan 3:1-23 Brenton) 1In his eighteenth year Nabuchodonosor the king made a golden image, its height was sixty cubits, its breadth six cubits: and he set it up in the plain of Deira, in the province of Babylon. 2And he sent forth to gather the governors, and the captains, and the heads of provinces, chiefs, and princes, and those who were in authority, and all the rulers of districts, to come to the dedication of the image. 3So the heads of provinces, the governors, the captains, the chiefs, the great princes, those who were in authority, and all the rulers of districts, were gathered to the dedication of the image which king Nabuchodonosor had set up; and they stood before the image. 4Then a herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, ye peoples, tribes, and languages, 5at what hour ye shall hear the sound of the trumpet, and pipe, and harp, and sackbut, and psaltery, and every kind of music, ye shall fall down and worship the golden image which king Nabuchodonosor has set up. 6And whosoever shall not fall down and worship, in the same hour he shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace. 7And it came to pass when the nations heard the sound of the trumpet, and pipe, and harp, and sackbut, and psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the nations, tribes, and languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image which king Nabuchodonosor had set up. 8Then came near certain Chaldeans, and accused the Jews to the king, saying, 9O king, live for ever. 10Thou, O king, has made a decree that every man who shall hear the sound of the trumpet, and pipe, and harp, sackbut, and psaltery, and all kinds of music, 11and shall not fall down and worship the golden image, shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace. 12There are certain Jews whom thou has appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago, who have not obeyed thy decree, O king: they serve not thy gods, and worship not the golden image which thou hast set up. 13Then Nabuchodonosor in wrath and anger commanded to bring Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago: and they were brought before the king. 14And Nabuchodonosor answered and said to them, Is it true, Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago, that ye serve not my gods, and worship not the golden image which I have set up?

15Now then if ye be ready, whensoever ye shall hear the sound of the trumpet, and pipe, and harp, and sackbut, and psaltery, and harmony, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the golden image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, in the same hour ye shall be cast into the burning fiery furnace; and who is the God that shall deliver you out of my hand? 16Then answered Sedrach, Misach and Abdenago and said to king Nabuchodonosor, We have no need to answer thee concerning this matter. 17For our God whom we serve is in the heavens, able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will rescue us from thy hands, O king. 18But if not, be it known to thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the image which thou hast set up. 19Then Nabuchodonosor was filled with wrath, and the form of his countenance was changed toward Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago: and he gave orders to heat the furnace seven times more than usual, until it should burn to the uttermost. 20And he commanded mighty men to bind Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 21Then those men were bound with their coats, and caps, and hose, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace, 22forasmuch as the king's word prevailed; and the furnace was made exceeding hot. 23Then these three men, Sedrach, Misach, and Abdenago, fell bound into the midst of the burning furnace, and walked in the midst of the flame, singing praise to God, and blessing the Lord.
