FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: June 12, 2006 FREELANCE WRITER: Marla Levine E-MAIL: [email protected] PHONE: (623) 974-3035 FAX: (623) 974-9796

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Mortgage originator Dean Wegner holds many keys to success

that have opened the doors to a thriving referral-based lending business known in the

Phoenix marketplace as Team Dean.

As a sub-office of Lion’s Gate Mortgage, Wegner’s five-person Team Dean has

clients roaring about the lionhearted lending team that boldly tames residential loans to

meet each customer’s unique needs. As the leader of the pack, Wegner has reigned as

Lion’s Gate Mortgage’s “Loan Officer of the Year” for six years running.

The 34-year-old Wegner realized eight years ago that his strong foundation in the

residential housing market provided a solid base to build a career as a loan consultant. “I

initially became a real estate agent in 1994,” Wegner says retracing the steps of his career

path. “I worked for several years as a Realtor with a firm that had an in-house mortgage

company. The paperwork and numbers aspect of the mortgage business suited my

personality, so I went in that direction and never looked back.”

Now in his sixth year as a mortgage originator with Lion’s Gate Mortgage, Wegner

values the priceless lessons learned at industry seminars, plus the added guidance he has

gained from retaining a personal business coach and attending leadership workshops. He

calculates, “I would say I’m among the top ten originators in Phoenix, Arizona. On my

level you have to seek serious training, oftentimes its out-of-state or through a coach, if you

want to exceed in the marketplace. Last year I spent over $40,000 on self-education which

entailed attending eight out-of-state seminars, meeting with a business coach twice

monthly, and extensive leadership training. I intend to do the same this year in order to

remain the best in my field.”

Wegner’s commitment to exceeding client’s expectations accounts for Team Dean’s

growing number of “by referral only” customers. “We are a 100 percent referral-based

business that is expanding to include 60 percent repeat clients. I generate an average of 80

leads per month based on my reputation with my team working to support my volume.” In

the 2005 fiscal year, Wegner recounts, “Team Dean netted over 260 loans last year for a

total of $61,000,000 lent in production. Our approach and our delivery is definitely

different at Team Dean, so our clients receive a personal touch and never feel as if they are

being processed through a software program.”

Wegner structures Team Dean to support a team effort that collaborates together to

provide tailor-made residential loan plans designed to suit each individual’s needs. Director

of first impressions Rachel Flynn schedules the client appointments, coordinates collateral

mailings and inventories marketing materials. Manager Heather Paquette meets with the

client to collect the data necessary to process the application. Senior processor Kristen

McEntire acts as the liaison between the client and the bank, as she crosschecks the loan

documents for accuracy. Junior processor Rob Perez is the team’s communication expert

who conducts the weekly Tuesday update calls to all clients and Realtors, which provides

an up-to-date status report on each loan application. Wegner emphasizes, “By empowering

assistants to support you as a team member, they motivate me to do what I’m suppose to do

which is building and maintaining relationships, networking and public presentations.”

Wegner’s expertise in the topics of lead generation and client loyalty has made him

a sought-after speaker in the mortgage industry and among real estate professionals. As a

valedictorian graduate of The CORE Training, Inc., a two-year business consultation

program, Wegner shares his lessons learned with 200-plus real estate agents and mortgage

originators at seminars nationwide. During the past year he has represented the top of the

CORE class at speaking engagements in New York City, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.,

Sacramento, Calif. and most recently in May 2006 at Vail, Colo. In November 2006 he will

once again address industry professionals at The CORE Training in Austin, Texas.

Locally his public presentations have kept Wegner in hot demand as a public

speaker. “I am regularly invited to speak in Phoenix at real estate schools and real estate

companies’ quarterly and annual meetings.” Adding to his credibility, he notes, “I am one

of the few mortgage originators certified by the State of Arizona to teach Realtors renewal

hours to keep their license active on the subject of real estate finance.”
