All organizations or teams will have many similarities, key elements, and

transferable skills.

1. FORMING

At this stage, all the members are seeking to get to know the team and are avoiding conflict. Leader sets the stage• Procedures for team communication• Where, when, and how often the team meets• Team member roles are delegated• Initial work assignments

2. STORMING

As important issues are discussed, people begin to have conflicts and let opinions be known.

• The clarifier• The facilitator• The initiator• The summarizer• The supporter

3. NORMING

Everyone is acquainted and can focus on the problem at hand.• Team norms are established

4. PERFORMING

Independent work, flexible roles, team is most productive at this stage.

5. ADJOURNING

The work is done and the team has disbanded.
