Purpose of this Document This document is intended to serve as a guide in installing and configuring various vendor-supplied OPOS devices and services under the Windows1 operating systems running on TeamPoS2000 platforms.

Caveats Not all hardware and/or software configurations are described. The reader should review their specific configuration and adapt these steps as appropriate. Basic knowledge of the TeamPoS2000, its hardware jumper/switch settings and peripheral options, is assumed. Two basic TeamPoS2000 configurations are depicted in the following examples.

• Scenario #1 – TeamPoS2000, 133UQ PS/2 Keyboard, Retail I/O board, Serial devices

• Scenario #2 – TeamPoS2000, 133UQ USB Keyboard, TeamCOMBO board, Serial 2x20 display, and USB Devices

Sequence of Installation The base configuration utilizes peripherals from several different vendors, including, Fujitsu, Epson, and Preh. This document discusses the installation of OPOS services supplied by each of these vendors. Installation of the various software components can be performed in any order desired, though services and test utilities will not be functional until OPOS Common Controls are installed, and any required serial COM ports configured. The recommended order of installation is as follows:

1. Installation of Windows operating system. Note: This document is not intended to explain how to accomplish the operating system installation. The steps and examples shown here were implemented on a Windows XP Professional install.

2. Base TeamPoS2000 control slice drivers, e.g. video, touch… 3. OPOS Common Controls 4. Fujitsu supplied OPOS services 5. 133UQ keyboard using Preh supplied OPOS services 6. DT50II (a.k.a. Epson TM-H6000II) printer using Epson supplied OPOS services.

The following links (confirmed accurate and live as of this writing) are supplied for procurement of drivers and OPOS services:

Base TeamPoS2000 drivers http://www.ftxs.fujitsu.com/fujitsutemp.asp?navid=47 OPOS Common Controls http://monroecs.com/opos.htm Fujitsu supplied OPOS services http://www.ftxs.fujitsu.com/fujitsutemp.asp?navid=645 133UQ keyboard (Preh) OPOS services http://www.preh.com/ DT50II (Epson) OPOS services http://pos.epson.com/posindex.htm

Versions current as of this writing:

OPOS Common Controls 1.9.000 Fujitsu supplied OPOS services 1.3.7 133UQ keyboard (Preh) OPOS services 1.4.046 DT50II (Epson) OPOS services 2.40e SP1

Reasoning for this installation sequence: Fujitsu OPOS installation makes registry entries for the Retail I/O or TeamCOMBO multi-port communication boards and exposes the serial ports to Windows, allowing the subsequent configuration of the DT50II printer. Note: If the wrong I/O board type was selected or if the wrong I/O address for the I/O base address was selected which causes the COM ports to be installed incorrectly, refer to Appendix D for the procedure to uninstall the COM ports so that they can be installed correctly.

DT50II (Epson) Printer OPOS Device Services Installation The DT50II POS Printer is an OEM version of Epson's TM-H6000II family of printers. Standard Epson OPOS is used for this device. The DT50II printer is available in either RS232 serial or USB interfaces. The following OPOS installation example covers installation of both interfaces. Differences will be highlighted. Note: Perform the DT50II OPOS installation before attaching the printer when using the USB interface.

Configuring DT50II USB Printer and MICR Devices The DT50II USB printer requires a USB driver to be loaded before configuring. This was accomplished during the DT50II OPOS installation scenario above. Correct installation of the TMUSB driver can be confirmed by looking at device settings in Device Manager.

Launch Device Manager and expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers tree, as shown above. The Epson USB Controller for TM/BA/EU Printers device will be displayed if the driver was correctly installed, and the printer is attached and powered on. The following steps show OPOS configuration and setup of the DT50II USB printer and MICR devices.

Appendix A - TeamPoS2000 Communication Boards There are three different configurations for the TeamPOS I/O Boards: TeamCOM Retail I/O (7 Rs232 Ports), TeamCOMBO (4 Rs232 and 4 USB Ports) and TeamUSB (7 USB Ports).

TeamCOM ports and standard PC COM ports do not use the same naming convention. The silk-screened numbers on the TeamCOM board refer to an ordinal that is not related to more familiar COM port names. COM1 and COM2 are always the standard PC motherboard ports. TeamCOM Port0 is silk screened as PTR and is COM3, Port1 is COM4, Port2 is COM5, and so on. DRW is attached to COM10. The following table shows the relationship between Windows COM ports and TeamCOM port naming conventions along with other details.

TeamCOM Retail I/O (7 RS232 Ports) Board Setup for TeamPOS 2000 The TeamCOM version of the I/O Board provides seven (7) powered RS232 serial ports with optional jumper selected power distribution. The I/O Board also includes a microprocessor controlled External Control Interface to monitor and control external functions that are specific to the TeamPoS 2000. The External Control Interface supports monitoring and control of the following units:

• PSU (Power Supply Unit) • Dual Cash Drawers • CMOS (Optional) • Front Panel LEDs

All communications between the External Control Interface and the PoS terminal hardware and software are through standard PoS terminal compatible serial ports using a 16C550 UART or virtual com port (VCP) device. This hardware is recognized and supported by standard drivers supplied with the various Windows operating systems. The ability to use standard drivers supplied with the operating systems greatly simplifies development needed to support TeamPoS 2000 specific functionality and allows easy migration to new versions of operating system software.

TeamCOMBO (4 RS232 / 4 USB Ports) Board Setup for TeamPOS 2000 The TeamCOMBO board is differentiated from the TeamCOM board by fewer serial ports, (4 vs. 7) and the addition of a 4 port Retail USB Hub. Serial ports 1-4 are implemented on this version of the Retail I/O board. See functional block diagram for details. Serial port interrupts can be selected by using jumper CN2009 and can be set to IRQ 5,7,9,10,11 & 12.

Serial Ports 1 & 2, CN5279, may be powered with +5V, the default setting, by plugging jumpers into JP1 as indicated on the schematic. Either or both of these serial ports may be reconfigured to be a standard serial port by installing the appropriate jumpers. Note that +5V optionally applied to Serial Ports 1 & 2 appear on pin 9 of the DB9 connector.

The permanently powered serial ports (3 & 4) have +24V on pin 4 of the DB9 connectors, CN5281, and +5V on pin 6. Power ground reference for serial ports 3 & 4 are pins 1 & 9 of CN5281, whereas logic ground reference is pin 5.

The TeamCOMBO Board features a 4-port USB Hub that differs from a conventional USB hub in that the connectors are of a special type that provides power to specially designed USB retail peripherals. The standard model has two +24V retail USB ports and two +12v ports.

The 24V and 12V USB powered connectors are shown below. Note the keying of these connectors as shown below. Only peripheral connector cables that match the key may be attached.

TeamUSB COM10 Port Driver Installation USB ports on the TeamUSB board are essentially handled via standard Windows USB drivers. The TeamUSB COM10 interface for Cash Drawer, CMOS, and POS Power devices utilizes an FTDI USB to Serial Converter to implement COM10 functionality. Additional driver installation is necessary to setup and configure the COM10 USB Serial Port. Following Windows installation, Device Manager will show the device USB <-> Serial as undefined (yellow question mark) in the Other Devices branch, as seen below. The following steps will configure the TeamUSB for use with COM10.
