Information and history of the trademark Holar

Dear customers,

We would like to introduce you our trademark Holar along with its products. Holar is owned by

the company Čegan s.r.o. and was founded in 1990 with focus on production and distribution of

plastic door hardware. Manufacture of Holar products forms an important part of our

thermoplastic factory production. Holarstarted engaging in production of stainless steel1.4301 (AISI

304)door hardwaresince 1999 with bringing the products on the market in 2001 as a first company in

the Czech Republic. The range of products includes joinery hardware (solid and hollow options), door

handles and accessories, glass fitting. In 2013 Holar has introduced a unique product range of

Crystal glass. This unique design hardware made from lead glass reflects the development and

creativity of our designers and technicians.

From the outset Holar gained a strong position in the market. Our products are well known for

their precision and high quality which is derived from the skilled work of our employees and

individual approach. All Holar manufacturing activities are part of its holding company Čegan

holding a.s. Čegan s.r.o. is a major employer of disabled workers (ZPS) therefore can offer trading and

cooperation with reaching ZPS employment quota to their business partners.

Many domestic and foreign companies found Holar a reliable and serious business partner.

Holar distribution is not limited to the domestic market and distributes a significant part of

production abroad (Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, etc.).In the

Czech Republic and Slovakia are Holarproducts offered through network of wholesale and retail

partners.

Information about material and quality

Stainless steelEN 1.4301(AISI 304)

Our stainless steel range is made exclusively from DIN 1.4301 stainless steel. It’s available in matt

and glossy finish.

Stainless steel stands out for its resistance against corrosion and mechanical damage. When the

product is used correctly it stays free of any damage.

Different surface finishes are available by applying a top layer to the stainless steel core.

Gold - Titan-nitride (TiN)–is extremely hard ceramic material which protect surface and

therefore improve resistance of product. Health harmless non-toxic material.

Black chrome – layer of chrome is bonded to steel by galvanization. High abrasion resistance,

aesthetically pleasing and non-toxic to humans.

Plastic

All plastic products are made in our own thermoplastic factory which works with a complete range of

plastic materials. PA6 (polyamide, nylon), ABS–tough and durable plastic, PP (polypropylen) is mainly

used for joinery hardware.

Standard colours for plastic hardware are brown, beige and white.

In the range Klasik are the standard colours extended with a black colour.

For an additional fee a custom made product can be made in a further seven different colours.

Free -lead crystal glass

Our Crystal glass hardware is made from lead free soda-potassium glass which is

well known for its high refractive index. Products are highly transparent, elegant,

clear and harmless to health. Clear glass design is the latest trend in interior and

decorating industry.

Warranty

Holar door hardware products are covered by 24 months warranty. Warranty excludes improper

installation or failure to follow fitting instructions, abuse or misuse of the product and use of the

product for purpose which the product was not design. Extended warranty can be also provided to all

Holar products.

Warranty and warranty claim

- In case of warranty claim you will need to fill out a Warranty claim form and present a proof of

purchase (invoice, receipt, delivery docket)

- Holar warranty excludes improper installation or failure to follow fitting instructions, abuse or

misuse of the product, use of the product for purpose which the product was not design.

- Standard price of Holar door hardware covers the full set with mounting accessories

- As for the plastic hardware the price in the pricelist covers only standard colours (brown, white

and beige),other colours are available with additional charge of 75% from the standard price

ready for pick up or delivered within 3 weeks.

- Price of door pulls in U, G, B, C and F range is always for couple(two-sided pull) if only single

door pull(one-sided) is required the cost is counted as a 75% from the price of two- sided pull.

- Price of door pull in P range is for single door pull (one-sided)

- All mounting accessories are part of the package and therefore are included in the price. Blind

rosette is also included with one-sided door pulls.

Tips and recommendations

Door thickness

If the thickness of your door is not 38-43mm it is necessary to state the exact dimension when

submitting your order so we can match your door hardware with the right spindle and screws.

Standard length of spindle is 110mm.

What is to be specified when ordering Holarproducts

a) Plastic and stainless steel handles on rose/on backplate

When ordering stainless steel handles on rose it is essential to state variety (PZ, BB or WC) and shape

of rosette (round, square, oval). Plastic door hardware is supplied with both BB and PZ rosette.

When ordering stainless steel on backplate you need to state the variety of key/locker system (PZ, BB

or WC) and centre to centre dimension.Standard dimensionin the Czech Republic is 72/90mm.

When ordering a handle–knob combination it is essential to state the orientation of the handle

(right/left) and version of knob (fixed/moveable). Standard handle–knob combination in stainless

steel range is supplied with knob models MSK01 a MSK08. Different knob models are available for an

additional fee.

What is right and left handle orientation?

Handle orientation is essential when ordering combinations handle-knob or door pull- knob. The

orientation is accessed by facing the side of the door where is the handle going to be mounted.

b) Door pulls

When ordering door pulls you need to state the required model. In case an atypical model is required

it is best to provide the sketch with all dimensions, profiles and mounting possibilities. One-sided

door pulls come with blind rosette included in the price.

c) Custom production

Our custom production can make just about any design for stainless steel hardware (door hardware,

bathroom accessories, house numbers, pictograms etc.). When ordering custom made products it is

necessary to provide the sketch with all dimensions and profiles. Based on the sketch we will

estimate the price for the product.

d) Suitable combinations for glass doors

Holar door hardware can be used with glass doors. Especially the Crystal Glass door hardware with

its unique design that makes a great addition to any glass doors. Crystal glass door handles are

supplied without top and bottom rosette.

Fixing instructions for handle on rose/on backplate, one-sided and two-side door pull

Mounting of handle on rose

HOLAR handle on rose is fixed to a door with 2 machine screws, which are screwed thorough the

door. In the mounting template (part of packaging) you can see exactly whereto drill holes for the

machine screws. The holes must be drilled exactly as it states in template using drill with a diameter

of 8mm making sure the spindle is well centered (both sides are evenly deep in lever). First tighten

the spindle to the handle and then insert the spindle through the latch in the door. Instal the other

handle by sliding the handle over the spindle already through the door.If the machine screws need to

be shorten (depend on the door thickness) do it now and then insert the adjusted srews into pre-

drilled holes (see mounting template). Put nuts on the screws inserted through door and tighten

them up and then tighten grub screw on the handle. Finally put a blind rosetteon the clip-on rosette.

Escutcheons plates are not under mechanical stress therefore they can be fixed on a cylinder lock or

keyhole with two wood screws (part of packaging).

Istructions for WC rosette (turn knob) instalation are the same as the handle on rose. The WC rosette

is fixed to a door with 2 machine screws. Follow

istructions in mounting template.

As long as mounting instructions are followed

correctly there is no need to use any adhesives.

Adhesives are not part of packaging and if you still

decide to use some we can’t guarantee you be able

to remove installed door hardware from the door

when needed.

To make sure all parts in mechanism sit and work

well, we recommend you occasionally tighten all

screws. How often you have to do so is hard to tell

and its very individual (depends on installation,

door weight, use frequency). Do not over tighten

the grub screw it would interfere with right

movement of the handle

What is the pitch?

Pitch is distance between the middle of the lever hub down to the

middle of locker hub.

Mounting of handle on backplate

HOLAR handle on plate is fixed to a door with two wood

screws (with object fitting can be wood screws replace with

machine screws, which go through the door and offer a secure

fixing). Mounting of handle on plate is easier then rosette

hardware and can be completed without a mounting template.

After you tightened wood screws to finish installation you need

to tighten grub screws on a both levers.

Mounting of one-sided door pull

Drilling holes:

1) Screw through door-recommended for pull side of the door

For wooden, metal and plastic door - Ø 8 mm

For glass door – Ø 13 mm

- Drill holes through the door - Put a washer on screw and insert the screw thorough the

drilled hole, put another washer and screw it into a door pull. - Screw a clip-on rosette on the door the way it hides the head of

the main screw and then clip on blind rosette.

2) Not screw through - Drill hole into the door (not through)

Metal door -with tap cut a thread in the drilled hole for screw M8 Wooden door -Ø 10 mm,in order to fit in a screw anchor(dowel) Plastic and profile door -in order to fit in a rivet nut for M8

- Put „fixing element” spool on the screw - Screw with „fixing element“ screw into a door - Fit door pull onto both „fixing elemet“ and tighten grub screw

on each side of the door pull with an Allen key -

MIND!! THE SCREW THROUGH DOOR PULL MUST BE MOUNTED ON THE TENSION SIDE OF THE DOOR!!

Holes drilling For wooden, metal and plastic - Ø 8 mm For glass door – Ø 13 mm Drill holes through a door.

- Insert screws through the drilled holes, put “fixing element” on inserted screws on the tension side of the door and screw both screws into a door pull. With a glass door you have to put plastic glands in to the holes before you insert screws.

- Fit door pull onto both “fixing element” and tighten grub screw on each side of the door pull with an allen key.

Maintenance and care for Holarhardware After installation it is necessary to clean the hardware with cleansing cream. Cleaning should be done regularly. Clean with warm water, gentle cleansing cream and soft absorbent cloth. Cleaning and maintenance: To clean HOLARhardware you can use many of household cleaning products. Make sure they are no-abrasive liquid products suitable for stainless steel (Franke Twister or Franke Sunshine, TORO, CIF, etc.), or ammonia - based products.

Avoid: Do not use any of following:

Steel scourer

Steel wool

Cleansing product for silver

Bleach and desinfection

Polish removal

Acid concentrate

lye

dry cleansing powder or abrasive product (sand based)

products containing carbon dioxide

product containing chlorine or its derivate (coating removals and product for cleaning paint brushes ),

If stainless steel products get in contact with acid it is necessary to wash the product with plenty of warm water and then dry the product with dry cloth.Stains caused by ink, oil or paint must be cleaned immediately. If it’s hard to clean those stains with warm water and recommended cleansing product,use soft cloth, soaked with denatured alcohol and then wash with warm water.

Stainson stainless steel are usually caused by deposits on surface. It is not a damage of the material. The most common is formation of a thin layerof water deposits on a surface which can progress into brown stains (similar to rust). You can prevent this formation by drying the product when wet. If the thin layer is already formed you can clean it with wet cloth and liquid cleansing cream.

Returning “rusty” stains In case of recurring rusty stains, especially in a new buildings or recently reconstructed, check if product is not close by some deposits (part of bricks, metal chips, sand and grout) which cause water pollution and subsequent stain formation. Durable stains can be removed with a gentle polish. Limestone sediments can be removed with 9%acetic acid.

Door hardware is certified under ČSN 1906, and is design to be used with standard door up to 40kg without door closer.
