A virus is a harmful piece of code designed exclusively to damage our computer software, hardware as well as data.

A virus is a self-replicating program that spreads by inserting copies of itself into other executable code or documents.

A computer virus behaves in a way similar to a biological virus, which spreads by inserting itself into living cells.

Viruses’ mission is to move from program to other and this should happen as quickly as possible.A computer is infected with a boot sector virus if it is booted from an infected floppy disk. Boot sector infections cannot normally spread across a network. They move from one computer to an other through internet during sharing data files.Computer viruses spread through remove able storage devices.

There are a number of different types of viruses. Understanding how they typically spread, and what kind of damage, they can be divided into these types:

Operating System may slow down. Change the length of executable (*.com/*.exe) files. Change to the reassignment of system resources. Showing some funny and suspicious behaviour (blinking of the mouse).

An anti-virus software program is a computer program that can be used to scan files to identify and eliminate computer viruses and other malicious software.

Anti-virus software typically uses two different techniques to accomplish this: Examining files to look for known viruses by means of a virus dictionary Identifying suspicious behavior from any computer program which might indicate infection
