Notes and Maintenance

O Do not grasp or hold the lonearm durlng operationof lhe automatic-return mechanism.

O When you use other headshells, check the headshellconfiguration for compatibi l i ty. (See Fig. 17.)When other types of headshel ls are employed, thehandle port ion of the headshel l may str ike against theinner, upper surface of the dust cover dur ing auto-mat ic mot ion of the tonearm. In such case, we recom-mend the dust cover be lef t open dur ing play.

I Before detaching or at laching the headshell , be sure tolurn the power of the ampli f ier or receiver off .Noise produced by detaching or at taching of the head-shel l , wi th the volume control turned up, may' causedamage to the speakers.

@ When play is f inished, be sure to secure lhe tonearmwith the arm clamp. After play is f inished, i f the unit is not to be used forsome t ime, care should be taken to secure the tonearmto protect the sty lus t ip.For the same reason, the sty lus protector should alsobe attached.

€' Wipe the headshell terminals f rom l ime to t ime.Dust and dirt at the headshell terminals may result inincreased "HUM" noise or intermittent sound. Use a softdry cloth to clean the headshell terminals.

@ Wipe the dust cover and lurntable base with a soft, drycloth.o Never use any cleaners containing alcohol, benzine

or th inner.. Use of a chemical ly t reated dust c loth should also

be avoided. Be sure that the dust cover is not ex-posed to insecl ic ide sPraY.

. To remove stubborn f inger prints or grease spots'detach the dust cover and disconnect the AC powerplug.Use a sol t c loth s l ight ly moistened with a mi ld soapand water solut ion.

o Do not wipe the dust cover during play, or thetonearm may be attracted toward the dust cover dueto the generation of stat ic electr ici ty.

O Dust and dirt should be careful ly removed f rom stylus t ipor records.Dust and dirt on stylus t ip or record may not only resultin dèteriorat ion of tone quali ty, but cause undue wear ofthe record and the sty lus t ip i tsel f .Special stylus t ip brushes and record cleaners can bepurclased in most electronic supply houses.

@ How to remoye and instal l the turntable plalter (See Fig.18.)The bel t is connected to the capstan and the inner dr iver im of the turntable plat ter .Before removing the turntable platter, .release the beltfrom the capstan. When reinstal l ing the turntable plat ter , lower i t over theturntable shatt and then put the bel t onto the capstan.

(See Figs. 19 and 20.)r The arm-l i f t height distance between the sty lus t ip and

record surface when cueing knob is at "v" has beenadjusted at the factory before shipping to approxi-mately 5 to 10 mm.

r For using di f ferent cartr idges avai lable on the marketor when lur ther adjustments are part icular ly necessary, make ad. lustment as fo l lows:

1. Put on the sty lus protector to protect the sty lus t ip f romdamage.

2. Set the speed select knob to the " o " posi t ion toprevent the turntable plat ter f rom rotat ion.

3. Move the tonearm towards the centre spindle.4. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise or counterclock-

wise, whi le pushing the arm l i f t down. (See Fig.20.)

Features Specif icationsO New Type Frequency Generator Servo Control

One of the major secrets behind the razor-sharp accuracyand superb quali ty of sound l ies in the new type (FrequencyGenerator) servo controlled DC motor, and greatly improvedhighly rel iable lC circuitry. Even the sl ightest hint of speedchange and dri f t is corrected immediately.

@ Electronic Speed SwitchingEven though this turntable is belt-driven, gone is the oldconventional pul ley type speed changing mechanism.Speed switching in this unit is ful ly electronic, therebyadding to the high degree o'f mechanical precision andrel iabi l i ty.

g All Front-Panel ControlsThe advancement to complete front-panel control marks abig step forward in turntable operation, not only because ofthe greater convenience, but also because of the greaterprotection from dust, as the dust cover can stay closed.

@ Tonearm Cueing Gonlrolled f rom Front PanelThe tonearm is raised and lowered soft ly by a viscous-damped cueing l i f ter. Even with the dust cover closed, acueing can be easi ly performed as the control is located onthe f ront panel.

O Automatic Tonearm ReturnFor greater operat ional convenience, the tonearm returnsto the arm rest automat ical ly.

@ Xignly Sensitive Gimbal Suspension SystemWith the high-precis ion pivot bear ings employed for thehorizontal and vert ical iournals of the tonearm, in concertwi th the adopt ion of the gimbal suspension system, ahigh-sensit ivi ty arm of less than 7 mg fr ict ion has been

' attained, thus making i t possible to f ul ly real ize the perfor-mance of h igh-compl iance cartr idges.

O Independent Pilch ControlsPermits record speed (at both 33'/. and 45 rpm) to bevaried by up to 60/0.

@ Precision Strobe llluminator/Pilot LampWith the bui l t- in strobe-i l luminator/pi lot lamp, accuratespeed adjustments can be made rapidly and easi ly.

@ Anti-skating Force MechanismThe well-designed anti-skating force mechanism ensuresminimum side thrust with dif ferent cartr idges andguarantees accurate center-of-the-g roove tracking.
