Offshore

In the Offshore business segmentTechnip performs engineering,procurement, construction,installation, commissioning and therefurbishment/upgrading of offshorefacilities for the oil & gas industry.

Technip provides these services forfixed platforms in shallow water withconventional sub-structures and selfinstalling platforms such as the TPG500 and for deepwater facilitiesincluding Spar, semi-submersible, TLP,FPSO and FLNG units. Technip is aworld leader in floatover installationof topsides and its R&D effort isfocused on technology transfer forlocal content and new frontier areassuch as ultra-deepwater and the Arctic.

Onshore

Technip covers the full range ofonshore facilities for the oil and gaschain, petrochemicals and otherenergy industries (nuclear,renewables including biofuels andoffshore wind). It holds manyproprietary cutting-edgetechnologies and is the leader in thedesign and construction of LNG andgas treatment plants as well asethylene, hydrogen and syngas units.

Technip is also one of the key actorsin refining and petrochemical units,and has developed a leadership inthe fertilizer industry. Moreover, theGroup is very active in non-energyactivities such as mining and metals,life sciences, buildings andinfrastructures.

Subsea

In subsea hydrocarbon fielddevelopment, Technip’s activitiesinclude the design, manufacture andinstallation of rigid and flexible subseapipelines and umbilicals. Thanks to itsportfolio of technologies and industrialand operational assets, Technip offers aunique vertically integrated model inthe industry.

The Group has 3 flexible pipemanufacturing plants, 4 umbilicalproduction units, 9 logistics andpipeline assembly bases, and 1construction yard. Technip’s worldwideleadership is supported by a modernfleet of vessels for subsea construction,pipelay development (rigid and flexiblepipes using S-Lay, J-Lay or Reeledtechnology) and heavy lift applications.

Technip has been active in Angola sincethe early 1970s and has formalised itspresence by establishing offices andindustrial facilities.

Technip Angola EngenhariaLimitadaTechnip Angola Engenharia Limitada isthe first engineering company establi-shed in Angola, in June 2000 througha partnership between the AngolanState Oil company Sonangol (40%) andTechnip (60%). It provides engineeringservices to offshore and downstreamoil and gas activities in Angola, andpromotes the Group's subsea capabi-lities for deepwater developments. 70% of its personnel is directly involvedin engineering and project manage-ment. Angolan nationals represent 70%of the staff, and are integrated at alllevels. Its core of engineers have beentrained in France at the Technip head-

quarters. Engineers and designersbenefit from regular on-the-job trai-ning. The company strives to activelyparticipate in the development ofAngola (infrastructures, industries etc.),involving its personnel in the recons-truction of the country.

Angoflex - Lobitoumbilical manufacturingplant

Angoflex Limitada was created inMarch 2002 through an associationbetween Sonangol EP (30%) andTechnip (70%) with the main objectiveof investing, building and operating anumbilical factory located within theLobito fabrication yard. This uniquefacility uses state-of-the-art techno-logy to produce top quality steel tubeumbilicals for deepwater develop-ments offshore Angola. The Angoflexpresence is contributing to the rapideconomic growth of both theBenguela Province and the Angolaneconomy.This factory employs approx. 180people (95% are Angolans). Its coreproduction personnel completed anextensive training program in Brazil, inthe USA and UK, at Technip's othermanufacturing plants.

Angoflex - Dandespoolbase

The Angoflex spoolbase was inaugu-rated in March 2006 and is located inDande. It is the Group's newest spool-base. This facility manufactures rigidpipelines for reel-lay installation ofdeepwater oil and gas productionsystems. It is the most advanced faci-lity of its kind built in Africa, andincludes state-of-the-art equipment.

Built on a green site, it benefits thelocal economy through its support ofbase life and local employment.Angoflex further boosts Angolan parti-cipation through the transfer of newtechnologies. An expansion into anIndustrial Base is under consideration.

Quality, Health, Safety andthe EnvironmentThe health and safety of personnelworking on job sites, as well as envi-ronmental protection are Technip'sforemost priorities with local commu-nities. At every stage of project execu-tion, these concerns, together withQuality, are taken into considerationand are an integral part of operations.QHS&E Management was integratedfrom the start into the Lobito umbi-lical manufacturing plant and the Dandespoolbase procedures as the key tosafe and efficient operations and tocontinuously improving performance. BVQI awarded its ISO 9001:2000 certification to the Lobito plant at the start of operations in 2004 andrenewed it in 2007 and 2009 provingits sustainability. The Dande Spoolbasewas also awarded its ISO 9001-2008 inJune 2010.At the end of 2010, AngoflexLobito reached the 1.5 million manhoursLTI free milestone.

Social initiativesAngoflex keeps close ties with localcommunities in Lobito and Dande andregularly takes initiatives to help themin the health or education sectors. In 2009 in Dande, the companyprovided an ambulance to a localhospital and a school renovationproject is ongoing. Angoflex is also acti-vely involved in fighting malaria andcholera.

Workforce

To perform these activities, Technip Angola Engenhariacurrently has a workforce of around 100 people of which75% are Angolans. The target is to reach a workforce of 150people by 2011.In December 2009, Technip Angola Engenharia celebratedthe arrival of its 100th employee.Currently the company is able to handle projects for a totalannual capacity of 100,000 manhours.

This venture came as a response to the desire of Technip,Sonangol and the Angolan Authorities, to develop thetransfer of know-how to Angola and to increase the invol-vement of local firms in industrial projects.This engineering company has been operational since June2001, after training its Angolan engineers in France at theInstitut Français du Pétrole -IFP- and at Technip headquar-ters. Additionally, regular on-the-job training is provided toengineers and designers either locally or through mobilisa-tion within overseas project teams (USA, France) to partici-pate in the Group’s major engineering projects worldwide.

Our main activity is to provide all types of engineeringservices from feasibility studies to construction supervision,for the oil & gas sector (offshore and onshore) as well as forother industries (infrastructures, manufacturing plants, etc.).We provide a wide range of services encompassing:

The plant manufactures steel tube umbilicals forsubsea oil and gas production systems.

The plant, the only one of its kind in Africa, comprises allmachinery for umbilical fabrication to international standards.ISO 9001: 2000 certification was completed by Bureau Veritasin March 2004 and renewed in 2007 and in 2009.Angoflex Lobito employs approximately 180 people (95%are Angolans). The core production personnel for this factorycompleted an extensive training program in Brazil, in the USAand in the UK, at Technip other manufacturing plants.

Plant expansion

The expansion of this state-of-the-art umbilical plant isscheduled to be completed in 2010 to meet the growingdemand for longer length and larger diameter products onthe West African market. It will include:

the installation of two large manufacturing carousels an upgrade to a Helical lay-up machine a load-out roller path

Angoflex Lobito complements Technip’s other umbilical engineering and manufacturing units in Newcastle (UK), in Houston (USA) and in Malaysia.

Product range and capability

By tapping into the considerable design expertise availablewithin the Technip group, Angoflex Lobito is able to providea range of umbilicals adapted to West African deepwaterdevelopments.Umbilical assemblies are made of steel tubes, electrical cablesand optical fibres:

Central cores up to: 220 mm outer diameter (OD) assembly85 mm OD central steel tube

Up to 12 components and 12 fillers in a single pass:steel tubes up to 45 mm ODelectrical cables

This is the most advanced facility of its kind built in Africa,and includes all state-of-the-art equipment and machineryfor pipeline fabrication to international standards. The faci-lity has an annual production capacity of up to 300 km ofpipe. The workforce averages 200, when in full production.This facility also has a unique 600-meter long jetty, withwater depth of up to 12 meters at the bulkheads.Accommodation and full catering facilities for 400 peopleare provided on-site, in addition to a medical clinic.The Technip group operates four other Spoolbase facilitiesin Mobile, Alabama (USA), Evanton (UK), Orkanger (Norway),and Barra do Riacho (Brazil).

The Dande Spoolbase efficiently manufactures rigidpipelines for reel lay installation of deepwater oil &gas production systems. It is located about 40 kmnorth of Luanda on 780,000 m2 of secure property.

Product range and capability

The Dande Spoolbase has the ability to pre-fabricate pipestalks up to 3 km in length, which minimises tie-in welds, andthe time needed to load pipe onto the Deep Blue reel pipelayvessel. This capability is unmatched by any other spoolbasein the world.
